The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Yeah that's looking pretty shabby & unprofessional by them, as free agency is in full swing....at least that's the perception - they might well say Aiyuk's been less than professional, but this is an NFL franchise we're talking about here, - should be above the low standard the player might be operating at?

How quick we forget how terrible we had it with our former owner. If any fanbase should be able to look at a situation and see a possibility of a front office be manipulating the narrative to prove their decision, we know whats possible.

I've erased all memories of "he who shall not be named". Nothing but a squeeky clean commanders tragic these days lol:ROFLMAO:

Man im not really trying to trade Payne in a contract year with Jones here, especially if we end up drafting someone like Styles who may change Jones defensive base to more of a 4-3 scheme. I see Payne being dominant in the 4-3 but I will probably trade him on draft night if we don't draft Styles.
I'm not ready to trade Payne because he has little value so a small return, he will be motivated in a contract year and other than Settle they haven't signed any DTs so this would leave a hole. I don't anticipate any signings at this point to play better than Payne in a contract year.

Ship him out for an early-ish day 3 pick and draft a DL with that pick. Save a load of cash and cap space in the process.

Why are we thinking June 2 for Aiyuk? It seems they have no reason to cut him before the season, at which point they have to pay him

Speculating about that interview....

Even when you designate a player as a post June 1st cut, the team doesn't realize the cap savings until after June 1st. So SF could release him now, or wait til after June 1st.... to them, there is no difference.

-----------------------------

All that said, I guess it is possible Aiyuk could start showing up for OTAs (causing drama). I mean, if they haven't cut him by that point, as his agent, I'd be telling him to show up to those to spur them into action.

For reference, the SF OTA dates are: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5

Lol, that one definitely struck SIP deeper than all other misses!

lol, over time it feels worse. Not because Payne wasn't good. He's been mostly good. But this team's version of great is good. Their hits are B minus level players. And Payne screamed that IMO in the draft process.

So that comp pick deadline is May 4th I believe regarding Jennings?

Yeah though if that's so it hurts this team because comp picks aren't in play.

I am guessing if they don't sign Jennings before the draft, its out, because they likely draft a WR and then Aiyuk is lurking still.

Agreed which sucks. I am wondering if the Titans (or us) have some sort of a wink wink agreement.

If we are out on him, we cannot count on Aiyuk only so they really need to bring in another WR unless the are committed to drafting one regardless of the way the draft plays out (which stinks being in that position)

Provided this was true, I don't see a case where it could be us? We absolutely aren't qualifying for any comp picks based on this offseason. So if this was in play, we'd be better off signing him now vs. waiting!

And that's my confusion with the post unless it's the Titans not us. I do believe they have lost and signed a number of players though

I believe Jennings is waiting until after the draft to see if his value increases. Teams still need receivers and if they can't draft one they like is when we will them start bidding on Jennings and Diggs.

An interesting tactic that could backfire if the teams that have shown strong interest have already moved on by filling that need. Either that or they plan to fill it through the draft, other FA's or a combo. I mean the WR's aren't real strong at the top of the raft class but it is deep with decent players that will contribute this year

I believe if we do not use the 7th pick in draft on wr our offer to him will definitely increase as well as Tennessee. I like the option of getting Aiyuke but waiting on him to come free and his along absence from playing in game scares me. We ideally need two more wr or we are Terry injury from being the same situation as last year or maybe even worse. I believe Deebo is still better than any wr not named Terry on our roster.

You aren't going to find a JSA in the draft or free agency.

For the free agents like Jennings their early high salary demands are crumbling as these types of players are bandaids - great for helping for a year maybe two but not a guy you want to make a major commitment to.

Diggs and Allen are already in that category but I think KNOW that and are more realistic about what they are going to get - that's one reason I favor signing one of these players before the draft to protect ourselves from having to feel pressured to take a WR.

Based on 2025, both players can be productive #2's for 2026.

I think Roseman has already seen the WR market and looked at the draft and he decided to pull the trigger on Hollywood Brown as a veteran receiver for 2026 just in case.

Yeah I said early, I could see them looking at Allen, not a fan of Diggs. ANd as far as we know, they said they were moving from Deebo but we may be better with him since he is already familiar with the team butt he'd need to take a cut

He has little value. And in a contract year I have to believe he will play better than a day 3 pick even if they land one which I highly doubt.

I like the cap space they have retained. I am excited at the late signings. Teams always cut players late for cap purposes, I expect us to be ready to pounce.
