Spot on about Price. Seems to be the clear #2 best RB after Love, to me anyway. This is why if Downs/Bailey/Love is gone at #7, you can move down, draft Boston and then get Price with our 2nd round pick, if we get one in a trade down or I guess Tate at #7 and then Coleman at #71 possibly but then we have a huge need for S along with EDGE.

There really was no comparison though. Jerome Ford ran for 800 yards two years ago and McNichols has run for 800 yards in his entire 7 year career.

Both he and White catch the ball out of the backfield so there is coverage there too.

I think you made the same mistake i did and looked at his Wikipedia but didn't look at the years, it stops at 2024.

His best season was 3 years ago and two years ago he was decent, last year he did almost nothing.

Last year he played in 13 games and had 24 rushes for 74 yards and a 3 yard per carry average.

We aren’t drafting high enough to be guaranteed one of the top 2 offensive players. And 7 is too high for the lesser ranked guys. I don’t think anything is guaranteed this draft.

I am not opposed to drafting Love, but I would suggest that the Chiefs and Patriots, the most recent NFL dynasties, didn't come to the Super Bowl most years with a bell cow back that is in the top 5 at this position.

Teams can win with workman-like solid backs that fill their roles and do their jobs.

Derrick Henry and Adrian Peterson, the top backs of their generation in terms of production, never played in a Super Bowl to date.

I think there is some cherry picking here. Granted the days of John Riggins, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis, and Marshall Faulk are behind us; but a quality running back is still part of NFL success. Consider Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffery, and Marshawn Lynch for more recent examples. Also note the last Super Bowl MVP was a running back.

Even your own examples are a little misleading. The Patriots had Corey Dillon and Lagarrette Blount, the Chiefs had Isiah Pacheco, and Derrick Henry has more rushing yards in the playoffs than anybody else in NFL history.

So yes, running back is not the key position it once was, but you still need decent runners, and great ones still make a difference.

What about barkley 2 years ago carrying his offense to a championship.

How about a running back being the superbowl mvp for the first time in almost 30 years.

I think you unknowingly made a hell of an argument for the value of an elite running back.

Those offenses were going to be elite no matter who they had at back because they had two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.

Had they had elite backs it certainly wouldn't have hurt them but teams that aren't getting hall of fame level quarterback play could definitely use the extra help and recent history bears me out on that.

In addition, AP just failed while try to pay maybe the 20-30th best WR in the league over 30M a year but signed a decent RB for 2m.

I have a feeling he wants a receiver locked in on a cheap deal.
