The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Excited to have Dyami back. He was doing very well here when we last saw him. Im guessing we make more moves at wr eventually and Jefferson won't make the team. I'd rather see what Burks can do over him due to his higher ceiling. Jefferson is a low ceiling / low floor kinda guy. Maybe the benefit will be he can gain familiarity with our system and be available midseason when injury bug hits.

I don't know much about Jefferson. Is he a physical receiver that we can at least hope can fight for his catches like AJ Brown? Or is he another route runner?

Uh. He’s a NFL receiver. I’m not sure how else to respond 😆
I'm trying to find something to feel excited about in him. If he sucks at getting separation, I'd hope he still has some sort of redeeming quality besides his first name not being Chris and his last name not being Moore.

I think folks are looking at these signings the wrong way. The team needs to go into camp with 7 or 8 guys to fill out the scrimmage and sub-team practice groupings.

We also need WR with decent speed to play special teams.

The article I was reading indicated that Brown is not viewed as a potential opening day starter so there are other higher level moves to come one way or another.

But it didn’t make sense NOT to fill in some depth pieces while we wait for the draft and other moves.

Quinn noted the lack of depth in 2025 and the injuries.

Both these guys are healthy and ready to go,

Could I see Brown as the #4 if Burks let’s say disappoints or gets hurt?

Sure.

Do I see him as the #2 or even #3? Not really.

Brown at least is a known commodity and like Mecole Hardman a couple of years ago in KC is coming back to an organization where there is great familiarity after a year elsewhere when nothing went right for the player.

That’s exactly as I view these pick ups.

He’s actually not a bad receiver. He gets some separation, fairly reliable hands… he just doesn’t fit much into any of those boxes. He had a stupid catch against SF this year.

He is good moving horizontally, too, and on sit routes. I actually like him. He’s better than anyone on our roster last year after Deebo. And he may have better hands than Deebo.

If you are trying to get excited about him, McVay saw enough of him as a prospect to take him in the 2nd round. 4.39 40 time at his pro day. But in reality, he is a JAG that has only had more than 29 catches once in his career.

One thing seems all but certain, the rumors are correct and Jennings may very well have a contract offer sitting waiting with the Eagles until the AJ Brown saga is over.

It also means Peters was not going to bid too high if at all for him.

He may be the one 49ers player he doesn’t really have interest in.

And still immediately an upgrade over our receivers from last year after Deebo.

Scary how bad that roster was.

No doubt we’ve just upgraded.

However, context and all that.

Yes, very sad. But even tho VJ may be a better WR than LM and JL today, do we cut one of them for VJ? The special teams aspect and youth / hope for growth favors them. I'd rather roll with Burks and Brown over him too, along with Terry, and would bet (pray) we add another WR either in FA or the draft that leaps VJ too. So I'm not expecting much from him, but maybe he is a good fit for the system and his speed and experience help him craft a role here. But I agree with your premise: I'd feel much better if VJ was out there instead of chosen / moore etc once the injury bug hits.

I think the loyalty to 2025 roster players has gone. Best man wins the roster spot this year.

I think McCaffrey is either the clear 3 in camp or he’s gone.

Por Chris

La hipérbole en espagnol est une figure de rhétorique consistant à exagérer la réalité pour accentuer un propos, créer de l'humour ou de l'emphase, très utilisée dans la langue courante et littéraire

It's a highly overused noun that became popular many years ago and people are still using it excessively. Does not impress me at all.

He drove me crazy at first, seemed like he would just sprint forward and could never find a lane or make a move. Would just collide with the first man in front of him and fall right down. Then there was that game he started and had zero catches. But he had some moments last year that I'm hoping are a sign he is ascending.

If we sign one more Rivera pick, does that mean that he's going to get his SB ring?
I mean if we didn’t dismantle his team we’d have won it last year.

I suppose the Rams moves for Trent McDuffie AND Jalyn Watson means that Emmanuel Forbes isn’t the diamond in the rough that McVay indicated at first.

I don’t see him as a 16 game starter in the league. I guess 2025 was his one chance.
