The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I’m personally at WR and CB.

I’d also be very keen to trade back if we get to draft weekend with only #7 and #71 through 2 days.
There's some truth here. Many times we have read that it takes a while for receivers to develop. Even if we sign 29yo Jennings, we'd have no one to be WR1 when Terry and Jennings hit that cliff

But that's been the problem all along, Deebo is a hybrid not a true outside receiver.

Signing him is like signing another TE, and I don't necessarily have an issue with it IF you are going to go into the draft and take Tate or Boston or another WR that can play on the outside.

Otherwise, if Terry goes down in 2026 you have the same scenario as 2025 and Deebo's per catch average of 10.1 yards is definitely proof at 30 he's not a field stretcher at this point of his career.
I don't think anybody is talking about bringing him in as the outside receiver opposite Terry. I think it's that we're assuming another outside receiver is coming, be it Aiyuk, Jennings, and/or draft, and Deebo would be a really good third option at WR.

Doesn't seem though as if many here on the board are OK with making a commitment to WR in the draft.

I keep seeing more love for Love and an EDGE.

If the front office also sees the draft board in similar fashion and doesn't rate a WR in the top 10 let's say then we are going into 2026 perhaps looking to add a Hollywood Brown or Diggs, both over 30 and in some decline?

Doesn't seem as if that makes the offense demonstrably better in terms of yielding chunk plays down the field, seems to be more of the 12-15 play drives that Daniels had to author in 2024.
I think we almost have to take a WR now at #7. Tate/Lemon/Tyson. I’d rather take Tate than Love if both were available.

Yes, Deebo just can't be considered a WR2 or just handed WR3. He should be considered in a battle with Lane, Luke and Burks for WR3,4,5,6 possibly with others they bring in
I mean, apart from the fact everybody should be competing with everybody all the time, that's somewhat ridiculous.

Deebo: 727 yards, 5 TDs

McCaffrey: 203 yards, 2 TDs
Lane: 225 yards, 0 TDs
Burks: 130 yards, 1 TD

The three of them combined for 558 yards and 3 TDs. So combined, they were ~1/3 of Deebo's production.

While they might be competing for snaps, Deebo is far and away better than any of the other three. At least, he was last year. And it's not even remotely close.

The chances of one of them beating him out isn't absolutely terrible. In my "run into celebrity at Safeway" scale, I think it would be about akin to running into my next door neighbor at Safeway. Not very likely, there are a lot of people who go to the safeway. But also not unreasonable. I think I run into my neighbor maybe once every couple of years at the store.

We won't have to. Just be patient. I bet by the time the draft rolls around we will have signed at least one projected starter, and possibly two.

Easily the best offensive player of the draft. In fact, if he’s there, I’d be running to the podium to put in the selection. He immediately makes the offense dangerous in a way no one else on our roster (JD5 excluded) does. I will be shocked if the Titans don’t grab him, unless they think their defensive line is more important and grab either Bailey or Bain.

Yep

AP is already seeing how hard it is to even sign #3 WRs. We're going WR, almost undoubtedly.

This really doesn’t feel like a bluff, they definitely are not taking offers on this kid

He trades him now, he looks like not just a liar but an asshole

You can't give Deebo WR2, that needs to be for a player like Jennings or handed to a top draft pick. That leaves WR3 and below to Deebo and the others. They hope to run into each other at Safeway

No argument on any of that. But he is a playmaker and that can't be said of the guys we have behind Terry.

I think at this point of free agency, with few starting caliber WRs available, I'd be inclined to overpay and outbid my competitors for Jennings.

I didn't say he would be WR2. I said that he would be a really good get paired with an outside starting WR, whoever that is. I'm assuming (because everybody else is assuming) that Aiyuk will be here. I also think they're going to get somebody else.

I agree that they need to sign somebody else to play outside.

But Deebo would clearly be better than anybody else on the roster after Terry right now. So he would be getting a lot of snaps, hopefully moving around a bunch and used the way he was supposed to be used last year but couldn't be because of injury.

Looks like the Giants are probably out. I wondered if it was Jennings’ agent putting that out there anyway.

His price is going to come down. I still think he signs here.

Maybe by a little if they really like him and think he's clearly the best option available.
