The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I think, unless I'm very much mistaken, that the best 2 WRs still available are Jennings and Deebo.

Jennings - Former 49er
Deebo - Former 49er

And soon to be available:
Aiyuk - Former 49er

It's actually becoming somewhat possible we could sign all 3. :p

I know folks might think Deebo is not a fit and they're just going to move on, however the longer this goes, and he's without a team, I know Quinn really liked him. If he's not expected to be the #2 guy, he has a good rapport with Daniels, eh? Maybe he comes back.

I wouldn't hate bringing Deebo back along with another clear outside WR, who most likely is Aiyuk.

That would give them:
Terry
Aiyuk
Deebo
McCaffery
Lane
Burks

I could honestly live with that. It wouldn't have been my preference, and I think they still need to get another WR. But it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And they could still draft a guy and cut Burks.
I wouldn't mind having Deebo at all, as long as we have a true wide out to go along with him. Having Jayden dropping back with Terry, Deebo, Chigy, and Aiyuk could be dangerous if they are all healthy and on their game but it's risky

Don’t see any way or even reason to have Debo back. He won’t be cheap and Akonkwo is the Debo replacement. Plus.. with above plan we’re back to zero next year again.. terry gone, and unless Ayuk balls out and gets signed to an ltd we have no one. We HAVE to draft a wr with at least 1b potential this year.

There is one thing that we know for an absolute fact, without a doubt. In the very worst case scenario, if all else fails, both Tyson and Lemon will be available to us. That's a safety blanket for AP even if guys like Love, Tate, and Downs are gone.

I also think that for one season at least, he can live with a Deebo, Diggs, or another vet if we don't get Jennings because I feel like he doesn't believe there is a major difference between them. That's why I don't think that he's panicking. He will keep money aside for Aiyuk and he knows that he has the draft coming up soon.

To add to this, Deebo had 700 yards for us last year. He wasn't a bum. And he was essentially playing out of position the entire year. He was supposed to be slot/move around guy. Then Terry got hurt. Then Noah got hurt. Then he was outside WR #1 with literally nobody else on the field who could catch a cold at WR, RBs who weren't good in the pass game, and 97 year old slow as a slug Ertz.

If they bring him back paired with another outside WR, it's not terrible. He's a matchup nightmare if used correctly.

Last year he couldn't be used correctly, and he still had a good year.

So, as a last resort, I'd be ok with it. For the right money. Not $18m per. But $10-12? Sure. Why not. And Aiyuk, and maybe draft a guy.

They are going to have to sign multiple young WRs because they are going to have to replace Terry soon anyway.

I'm not sure there is a WR still available in free agency who is better than Deebo other than Jennings (assuming he is still available). So why wouldn't you re-sign him? I think it goes without saying if he doesn't get the offer he is looking for, he will probably be willing to come back at a reasonable price.

The best thing about Deebo is that he's a true Commander. You can tell that he loves being here, loves the team, loves Jayden, and loves the DMV

But that's been the problem all along, Deebo is a hybrid not a true outside receiver.

Signing him is like signing another TE, and I don't necessarily have an issue with it IF you are going to go into the draft and take Tate or Boston or another WR that can play on the outside.

Otherwise, if Terry goes down in 2026 you have the same scenario as 2025 and Deebo's per catch average of 10.1 yards is definitely proof at 30 he's not a field stretcher at this point of his career.

Agree, Deebo absolutely has value here. Alongside other pieces, clearly.
Doesn't seem though as if many here on the board are OK with making a commitment to WR in the draft.

I keep seeing more love for Love and an EDGE.

If the front office also sees the draft board in similar fashion and doesn't rate a WR in the top 10 let's say then we are going into 2026 perhaps looking to add a Hollywood Brown or Diggs, both over 30 and in some decline?

Doesn't seem as if that makes the offense demonstrably better in terms of yielding chunk plays down the field, seems to be more of the 12-15 play drives that Daniels had to author in 2024.

Yes, Deebo just can't be considered a WR2 or just handed WR3. He should be considered in a battle with Lane, Luke and Burks for WR3,4,5,6 possibly with others they bring in

That's the problem though are we bringing in over 30 receivers like Diggs or Hollywood Brown to compete for what may become a simply mediocre receiving unit behind Terry?

I’m personally at WR and CB.

I’d also be very keen to trade back if we get to draft weekend with only #7 and #71 through 2 days.

I don't want Diggs or Hollywood. My thought was if Deebo was brought in along with Aiyuk, Jennings and/or Tstee. Lemon or Tyson

Blatantly obvious the best alternative option is the guys the Jags apparently don’t want to trade.
