David Chao, former head trainer for Chargers of 17 years turned internet doc, has said he won’t be close to recovered by the season start. Says more like midseason at reduced capability.

He’s a scumbag human but the only internet doc worth paying attention to given his experience. Rarely incorrect.

Also looks like Sean Tucker can be had still. He’s tendered but there’s no compensation, just a right to match any offer sheet he receives. I’d make a play for sure. Easily my top RB remaining.

Again, Sinnott and McCaffrey to me as receivers are not to be counted on for the season and I don't think Washington is in fact counting on their contributions.

These guys likely will be brought back to compete and McCaffrey has a role as a KR for the club so his job appears safe at least until his rookie deal is up.

Sinnott? He could be cut. Let's face it, this is not the same group of coaches as last year and the further we get away from the draft the less the front office is reluctant to admit the mistake and move on.

Antonio Gibson is another realistic option. At the end of the day, from a career standpoint, I don’t know what White has done that Gibson hasn’t

We cannot go into the season on hope that Bill, Luke and Jaylin are going to step up. Nothing that has happened so far has indicated that is a good plan.

It doesn’t mean they can’t.

But I wouldn’t bet my job on it… would you?

I don't trust Lane or McCaffrey at all, especially coming off of injury but I do feel like Bill proved himself some at least. The others have not at all. Luke got better but he's still basically a one catch per game guy. I actually have much more faith in Burks than those 2

Considering all this talk about WR, here is our roster:

1. Terry, reliable WR1 when healthy.
2. Burks, former first rounder who has battled injuries, but made some impressive catches for us last year.
3. Luke, good pedigree, gadget player and special teams ace, started to flash last year.
4. Lane, raw speedster entering year two, has yet to show much.

That trio of Burks, Luke, and Lane has a lot of unrealized potential. We could also add another young gun through the draft. Sometimes you have to develop your own homegrown talent.

What we really need is a reliable vet. I would bring back Deebo and/or add a guy like Keenan Allen. Jennings would work too but I don’t think we are so desperate that we need to overpay.

Add Aiyuk to the mix and you’ll be talking about who to cut in preseason.

I get the need for a proven quality WR2, but I don’t see why everybody is pushing the panic button.

I want to like Trent, but I don't recall him being any more more than passingly mediocre. And he caught a pass once in his 9 year career.

I hope it is an easily disposable contract.

My take is its possible he can take another step. But....

I like what they've done on defense because they are leaving nothing to chance. They aren't relying on Armstrong coming back from injury. They aren't counting on MaGee coming through. They aren't purely banking on Quan Martin bouncing back from a bad season. They aren't counting on street free agents for depth. This mindset is a sea change. And a needed one. If they get lucky with bounceback season or injuries healing fast, etc -- its a bonus.

On offense right now. The O line on paper looks weaker. The WR corp looks weaker. The RB corp looks weaker. And I am not going to stew about it because there is time for all of that to change. But no way I am going to embrace them doubling down on offense with the same approach of 2025 which is an if and buts were candy and nuts drill. Jayden deserves better than that IMO. The other 2024 draft QBs are given the equivalent of champagne and cavier and Jayden is making due with Tang.

The FO has expressed that getting Jayden more weapons was high on the list. It took some patience to see the plan for the defense executed. I had to think that the plan is to be just as comprehensive on offense as defense.

I do think that Okonkwo was a key piece to pick up when we did because getting a starting TE in the draft is rare and the depth at this position right now was the equal of that at WR before the signing.

Even after Schefter shot down the rumor, Connor Hughes insisted that Jax will absolutely trade Thomas for a 2nd, just hasn't been offered yet.

These receivers that were pushed out the door by their former teams that have had law issues or serious injuries are just not of any interest to me if I am Peters.

There are still healthy receivers out there and guys in the draft to look at.

$30M was already an overpay... more than that would have been too much of a risk.

There's another factor here.. We offered more and he chose to stay there... it's VERY possible that Pierce's camp flat out told Peters that $30 wasn't enough to get him away from Indy, to which Peters responded "Is there a reasonable number that IS enough" and they said no... so he stopped.

At some point, you have to draw a line.

Having second thoughts on this one. I was surprised and disappointed we didn't get him at first, but when you look back a guy that comes in as the #2 and is a player based on speed down the field - that player can at times be underwhelming when asked to do a bit more and Pierce has never caught 60 balls in his career so he's not a chain mover or a guy that could move into that role if Terry goes down.

I liked Pierce and he was my favorite FA target but not at 30 mill year. I agree with you.
