The 2026 Free Agency Thread

The barest sliver of silver linings regarding receiver is that almost any addition improves our wr room, lol.

On a separate note, Jones has a lot of toys to play with now (I think they’ll still add a quality corner too)… I just hope he can get them quickly acclimated to the scheme.

I don't think they'd release Payne, but I can see a trade possibly happening, and if it did, why wouldn't they use part of the savings to keep Paul, who was the #5 pass-blocking G in the NFL last year, to protect JD5?
Because tying up that amount of money at a position that is more plentiful than OT with a player that to this point has ONE NFL quality season in a 4 year career here to me is a bit questionable. Remember when Paul was the LOWEST rated OG by PFF in the NFC a couple of years ago?

Teams have to spread the wealth over the roster and not concentrate $$$ at any one position group other than quarterback.

We already have Tunsil, Cosmi on top 5-7 deals at their positions and a #1 pick in Conerly for the future.

My guess is we look for a veteran guard after the draft on a contract that looks something like a 2 year, $15M type deal.

Looking at a number of top guards in the league and you see more than a few were #3 or #4 round draft picks or later.

It's not like LT where most of the top ones ARE in fact guys that were taken high in the draft.

You did see that they’re projecting 21 mil over 3 years, not 21 a year?

I’m pretty ambivalent about re-signing him though.

Yeah, I am not sure how the team views Paul. Whether they look at him as a complementary piece that they were hoping to resign early for modest dollars or as a guy they themselves were not certain about and were going to let go in free agency and sign someone else?

Every year though I see guards that play well that take deals for under $10M so the position is not as premium as edge rusher and offensive tackle.

Im with bulldog on this one.

First, hes a terrible run blocker and that matters too.

Second, there are a lot of good veteran guards available right now that could be had for cheaper as stop gaps and the draft is a good place to get the future at guard.

Just turned 30, but seemed unneeded at this point, especially with Armstrong and JJB coming back, in addition to all the signings.

Mixon seems to have sustained a mystery off-the-field foot injury that people have spent 8 months speculating about. The current rumor is that he either literally shot himself in the foot or hurt it doing something dumb, and got surgery on his own without consulting the Texans, and they weren’t happy with the results. His career could be over, hard to say. He’s a weird situation

Oh he’s also a sentient pile of garbage

Yeah didn't he shoot his neighbors 6 year old kid playing with a ball or something and claim self defense?

I have to be honest… dude had five sacks last year and I still asked myself “Who… ?”

If we release Payne (which would be a turnaround from general feelings this past week) I don't think it will be to give Chris Paul $18-20M.
Yeah I'd hope not. That cap space can go to a more new scheme friendly addition

Yeah had him on my fantasy team this year for a few weeks seeing if he would come back. I’m assuming whatever ailed him has probably healed by now but that’s probably wrong

Harris is out there too but he’s coming off a torn Achilles (in September). At a minimum, he’s missing camp

I'm doubting he'd be on the radar anymore but:

Browns released TE David Njoku.
Njoku was designated as a post-June

The last thing we need is an running back coming back off serious leg injury or one who has Tyreek Hill-like off the field behavior.

Well we need a WR and the Jags need DL help.

What we waiting for?
