At first I thought it a little curious that Jacksonville snatched up Rodriguez so quickly and paid him more than I expected but I forgot he played for Liam Coen in Kentucky and that was Rodriguez big year in college too.

Now it makes much more sense.

You can be targeted without it being a catchable target, it can also be broken up which isn’t a drop. Every target can’t be a catch or a drop lol

Nice tidbit but his stats show as worthy just not usef enough. Unproven without a larger sample size.

For what it’s worth SI has an article about it, b+ for the pickup by jags, basically say what I said.

Sinnott is at the bottom of my mind. It’s completely up to him to garner more than an average of about 1 target per game.

If that doesn’t happen it’s not on Kingsbury or Blough. It’s on Ben.

Too much we don’t know. He didn’t impress with his opportunities but we don’t know the calls. We can better judge him with someone else at the helm I think, the likelihoods become clearer.

I still think that we have a lot of guys in the front 7 who are good in other formations besides the 3-4 so I don't think that will be our base strictly. Jones will switch back and forth a lot to fit the talent

Kliff did do that (McBride, behind Ertz of course) but to be fair it only lasted his rookie year. 29 catches, flashed. Next year, though: 81 catches. So…that excuse ran out a while ago. Sinnott could surely blossom in the future, you never know. But I can’t imagine it’s a Kliff thing anymore. Maybe a scheme fit thing but you’d think Kliff would have been desperate to get any sort of playmaker going last year. And Sinnott did play over 35% of offensive snaps, mostly blocking. So who knows. Might’ve just been a bad draft pick. It happens.

KDawg has hit on this a few times, it’s really neither. It’s gaps and assignments rather than positions, fluid.

Impressive FA so far, and I’m pretty sure we’re far from done.

Think we’ll still add:
1-2 receivers
2 backs
At least 1 outside corner (or versatile guy) - we tried for Woolen, so this one’s going to be interesting.
IOL depth/competition (I’m guessing as of now, Wiley and Coleman will compete for the LG spot?). Could very well sign a starting guard. I could see a low tier center and then possibly drafting one. A guy with G/C capability would be nice.
T depth (Scott, Niang, and Fant all FAs) - this might depend on if we sign a starting guard as Wiley and Coleman would be a decent enough backup RT/LT (and we can move Conerly over if need be).
Maybe another LB and/or TE.

Another potentially interesting spot is DT. It’s a pretty solid quartet thus far, but I think it’s possible we see a change here.

I definitely think he may end up being a bad pick, more likely than not, but I won’t yet say it is all on Sinnott. The main thing we can all agree on is if Sinnott was straight awesome he would have gotten better time/targets.

I agree. I think Ertz was so slow that anything else looked better lol but I remember one game this past season Sinnott caught a backwards screen and rumbled forward, first time really seeing him attempt YAC…and I couldn’t believe how lumbering and unathletic he looked. Right then my homerism that he was just a slow learner died. He looked very unimpressive, didn’t pop at all. And I don’t mean a Chris Cooley-esque “looks less athletic than he is”. He moved like an OL advancing a fumble.

I have already.steeled to the reality that guys like Sinnott that can’t get on the field for two years on a team with a need for playmakers is someone who just doesn’t have what it takes to make it at this level.

Before this free agency period started, we were beginning to grow the narrative that Harris was cash poor and kept Peters on a tight budget. It sort of made sense. As billionaires go, he's not the richest and he spent a heck of a lot on the team, on improvements, etc.

I think the narrartive can be put to bed for at least this offseason.
