It is beginning to look like Peters and Quinn want to fill all the holes in FA, thus freeing the team to draft whoever they want when they get to #7.

We still have a long long way to go before we get there.

It may be doable but unlikely.

Don't take this as a complaint but why only two years, for a 24 year old??!!

Lots of guys want to be back on the market in their prime to get a big deal. He'll be back on the market at 27 years old which means he could land a large (safety large) 3 year contract to carry him to 30.

Swap out Ertz and replace Aiyuk with a WR taken in the draft and I agree.

If we could maneuver to move up from that #3 selection to the second round we could fill both WR and RB with 22 year old players.

My pick would be CJ Daniels out of Miami. He’s a stud. Hated losing him to Miami. And I wouldn’t touch a single LSU WR in this draft. Maybe practice squad. Maybe.

I don't disagree with the idea. I just thought it would be hard to do.

I would argue they thought they did that in 2025. We talked about it then (many of us), that they could now do pure BPA in the draft after they seemed like they addressed what they saw as holes from 2024.

I guess it is their standard strategy, but this year they have a clearer idea (we hope) on what their actual holes are.

You save almost 17M by cutting Payne... how much for Hargrave on a 1 yr deal? Obviously, if he's hurt, that's a different story ... also, you aren't signing a guy like that for sacks...

You end up in the same location next year and spent less.

I thought it was closer to $22M, although I think the only reason he is still here is that Jones wants to work with him.

Zac Ertz did as much or more in 13 games. Somebody explain why we are happy about this?

I get we plugged a hole in the roster with a young guy who is reasonably productive, but these aren’t great numbers by any stretch.

I imagine Chig will have better numbers in Washington than in TN last year and better numbers than Zach had last year with a healthy Jayden and team. I like the signing.

But the free agents we acquired in 2025 offseason for the most part were gap fillers and a lot of aging players rather than ones with greater youth and upside potential.

You also see younger rosters have fewer injuries over time.

Washington and SF were a couple of the oldest rosters in the league and they had among the highest number of guys on IR by the end of the season.

I don't think that is coincidental.

I agree but I think the coaches have reviewed his performance and think they can get more out of him.

Would have liked him to be signed to a 2 or more year deal. Take what we can get, I guess. Shorter deals 1 to 3 year deals are more common now. Glad we got Oweh on a 4 year deal. Hendrickson finally got paid and glad to see it.

Even the 3-4 year deals are usually actually secret 2 year deals, with the guaranteed money and structure. Terry’s is a good example. The players and agents prefer it the way the cap keeps increasing, and of course it gives teams flexibility as well.
