The 2026 Free Agency Thread

My guess is that Crosby's rehab from the MCL repair when they looked at it was going to take Maxx into the summer and Baltimore panicked on that and decided to go with the player that was healthy right now.

And they saved two high draft picks too.

Not a MCL injury, a meniscus repair. I think it’s a pretty clear case of buyer’s remorse.

Under $10M? That would be a good contract if we have to have him.

I still have my doubts about his attitude and quite frankly his stability.

Can you sell me on this? I’m going to be disappointed when it’s this instead of Okonkwo. Sometimes it’s better to be a kool aid guy
He went to the U. What else do you need?

Njoku is a gamer - cost will likely be lower than Chig, is a veteran presence, and has played in much worse situations. He can block a little and can be an excellent safety blanket.

He’s not going to wow us downfield. He’s an outlet. But he’s an upgrade.

I’d be fine with Chig, too. Chig is probably a better player. But I’ve liked Joker since he played at the U. So… a little bias.

Well, if the Eagles are in on Njoku then Goedert is not in their plans for 2026.

He's 31 though and has been hurt the past 2 years.

Isn't that what we have had issues with here with older vets in 2024 and 2025?

Also Roseman is pretty sharp. He only moves on from players he can afford to move on from.

If the plan is to use Aiyuk as leverage against Jennings and Chig and convince them that they should be paying the team for the right to prove themselves on this team, I'm all in. If the plan is Aiyuk and that makes the others expendable, I will be annoyed that the offense puts so much reliance on a physical and mental headcase. I don't feel lucky with a drafted WR giving immediate day 1 results.

Keim was wrong on Linderbaum initially but he said on a pod they weren’t interested in Njoku.

Logan looked at his film and said he is a guy who has gotten by on athleticism vs technique and you can now see the athleticism starting to fade away

He didn't think they'd chase Linderbaum but then switched gears. One of the points he made is they are going to spend money and not land of course every target so they will pivot and he's not going to know every move in advance.

So Njoku I guess is possible. But yeah listened to that same podcast, Logan loves Okonkow, and wasn't taken by Njoku.

They have their reasons but the fact SF wasn't interested in bringing Jennings back in 2026 may be hurting his value.

Ricky Pearsall at this point is still a bit on the raw side so with the 33 year old Evans one would have thought Jennings would have a place. But evidently not even a consideration.

Jennings was way underpaid and created a fuss in training camp to get more money, which he did.

Paraag Marathe is a pain in the ass for players to deal with

Njoku is 29, he’s not some old man. It’s fair to say he has two or three good years left in him. Don’t look at his stats from last year, he was phased out of the receiving game some because of the emergence of Harold Fannin. Njoku (without complaint) was used as a blocker more than usual… Something by the way that he is good at in addition to his prowess in the passing game. Okonkwo I agree has the youth and upside, but he doesn’t have the size to be as effective as a blocker or red zone target. I’ll be thrilled to get either one of them. We need a tight end!!

The Washington Commanders trade their #3 pick in 2026 and a conditional #4 in 2027 to the Jaguars for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

My guess only - not a trade confirmation.
I could actually see us trying for Thomas and AP likes the creative trade route, we get Thomas and one of their many 2026 mid rounders, they get multiple future picks.

John is pretty quick here with his BGO burner account.

Assuming you mean I am Keim? I'll take it. But lol Keim would have to be quite the loser to hang on message boards to sell his takes.

Ditto he's been hiding his fandom well, claims he's a Cleveland guy, but secretly he's as big of fan of those Commanders as any of us. That's cool.

I'd aim for something like

Jennings - 63/3, bases at like 18M (so he can say he beat Doubs on base) with incentives to 21M/year, and like 42-45M guaranteed.

Aiyuk - 9/1 - prove it

Chig - 56/4, maybe 36-42 guaranteed.

White - 13/2, 7 guaranteed.

Assuming a little bit of backloading (but not too much) you'd end up with something capwise like
Jennings - 17-21-25
Aiyik - 9
Chig - 10-13-16-17
White - 6-8

So 42M against the cap for those 4. Can always backload a bit more if you want, or add void years.

Or just don't sign Aiyuk and his exploded knee.

Keim got Stockholm Syndrome at some point.

Boy, you don't just want some signings - you want Peters to go for the gold medal in free agency numbers :lift:
