The 2026 Free Agency Thread

It's kind of awful that Henrickson's camp decided to go with the Ravens. The Ravens pulled a stinkeroo. Hendrickson was totally fine with playing along and rewarding them for their screw job.

I don't know much about Tate, but if we took him at 7 is he good enough to be our #1?? Im still all in for Love since were kinda at the bottom of the barrel for RBs at this point

I tend to agree we go with one of Tate, Love or Downs now (not an edge), but… I believe only Oweh and JJB are under contract for ‘27 and edges often start a little slow, so still a possibility IMO.
Yeah, our edge room is pretty full. Can always us more but I think we have
Armstrong
Oweh
Chaison
Wise
Martin
Baptiste

I may be forgetting someone.

Hendrickson just went to the place with the most dollar bills. He's pretty simple that way after getting the bone from the cheap Bengals for several years.

Any of the three remaining veteran tight ends would be a massive upgrade over what we have.

The number of career catches for Bates and Sinnott is what these other guys get in 1 or 2 games :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Goedert on a 2 year deal for modest dollars at 31 is tempting but again he has had injury issues the past 2 years.

Other than Likely there wasn't a TE available that was 25 and had good upside.

I don’t believe we re-signed Martin, and JJB could go to the PS. It is a full room though, you’re right. I just don’t think it automatically precludes us from taking an edge, even if the odds are probably pretty low.

Weirdly, I’m now more open to returning Wagner. Partially because playing more zone can hide his coverage issues, partially because he’d durable, a good tackler, a solid blitzer and a high IQ player. Having Chenal, Luvu and Magee means Wagner can come off the field if we go down to 2 LBs, and the others can be the sideline to sideline players when we play with 3 or 4 backers.

Mainly though, I get the sense we could use his leadership by example, gravitas, and ability to line everyone up. I’d also put Wagner as most likely to pick up Jones’ scheme and help others get acclimated.

I don’t think it would preclude us from drafting Reese or Styles either (though both will likely be gone) as he and Luvu would only be signed for one year. In fact, having that one year of mentorship, for a position that often takes time to develop, could be a feature rather than a bug (the bug being less playing time for the rookie).

Not saying it’s something I feel strongly about (generally I’d much rather get younger), but I can see the appeal more so now.
Chenal is a big time leader. Watch his Mic'd up stuff. Personally I have no interest in watching Bobby Wagner get smoked in the passing game ever again. And I dont see him fitting here anymore.

He wasn’t finished. 🤣

lol this is an Antonio Brown level crash out as far as media goes. Personally, I think Minter is going to have that defense balling this year and JLC just gave me reason to hope they win that division.

I think we need to move on from Wagner and have our current core players work out their leadership group now that we have brought in a lot more talent and guys that have had some success in the league.

The fact we are installing a new defense under Jones only pushes me further in that direction.

If Wagner was a career Redskin/Commander and he had won a Super Bowl here I might be tempted to bring him back as a bridge to when we were a winner, but his experience at that level came with other teams.

Yeah, Chaisson is a one year deal and Dorance is on his last year. You always want 2 high level starters and ideally a 3rd high level guy for the rotation along with some backups. We've got the top 3 for '26 but we could still use a 5th and we will be right back in the market in '27 if we don't re-sign Chaisson and Armstrong, so Bailey (or Bain...) are still very much in play at 7.

What this does do tho is mean we don't have to panic and pick Faulk or Howell because we got no one in FA if Bailey goes top 6.

I don’t think so personally. Think he will be a very solid #2 in the league but we need a top dog and there isn’t one in this draft imo at WR. Draft more of an impact WR in next years draft. Really hoping we sign a couple WRs today to put that to rest.

Edge was my number want. I would not be unhappy at all if Bailey or Reece somehow fell. I might feel more hesitant about Bain now.

Honestly, I could never stand LaCanfora either. He's one of the few reporters who I wouldn't be surprised if someone punches him in the face one day
Chick was that guy for me. Such a smug dude and wore a fedora around town 😂

I think some folks feel that way because he is a 4.5 guy not a 4.39 guy. But he wins down the field on consistently on contested balls and as we saw from guys like Michael Irvin and Art Monk you don't need to necessarily be a speed demon if you have size and the ability to use leverage to your advantage.

As it turns out - if you are correct and Peters and other GMs feel the same way, then it appears that win against the Eagles was very costly as Love may be gone by that pick and so will the top pass rushers.

If someone steps up to #6 to take Downs we will be screwed.

That's one reason I wanted to finish in the top 5 so we could get WHO WE WANTED instead of who was left.

But our Warrior Culture demanded we try and win each game :flush:

I'm ok with Chaisson being one year since he has a lot of volume numbers. Make him prove that he's worth a big contract. We also have to prepare for Jayden getting a massive contract.

I too am still ok with going edge if it's the bpa. Some of these guys may be good enough to line up at tackle on long yardage, passing downs where we can put 4 hunters on the line like the Giants wee doing when they won the SB

Cee Dee ran 4.5 and Justin Jefferson ran 4.57 at the combine. That is plenty fast enough to be a dominate WR in the league.

Don't forget that Payne is on the last year of his deal and that money will be freeing up along with a rise in the cap in 2027 in case Chaisson balls out and we want to resign him.
