Fake or not, it sounds like an excellent deal to me. Hopefully Jax really wants to get rid of him, and AP does his job this time.

Daniels is going to go into camp pissed if we let EVERYONE get away.
 
Thomas's drop rate more than doubled, from 6.5% in 2024 to 13.8% in 2025, and the Jags added Jakobi Meyers, so maybe their math is that simple.

That said, I think Jacksonville would be making a huge mistake to trade a 23-year-old 6'2" 210 receiver with 4.3 speed and a rep for great hands because of one iffy (hand/wrist-injury-affected) season, hope Commanders pounce if the Jags want to pull a Biadasz at WR.

On the one hand, BTJr would be awesome to reunite with Jayden.

But the price scares me. We should not be moving 2027 picks, especially not top 100 picks. Everything I've heard is next year's draft will be awesome.

We also should not be moving #7 unless we get a bunch back, but JAX doesn't pick until 56. We'd probably want something like 56 and a 2027 2nd at a minimum, but even that doesn't feel like enough. Value chart gives #7 1500 points, and #56 340 points. Even if we count a 2027 2nd as same value as a pick this year bc of how good 2027 is, that would leave 820 points of value, which is smack between the value of pick 20 (850) and 21 (800). Is BTJr worth the 21st overall pick this year? Steep price.

Will they take 71? Probably not by itself.

Might be one of those situations where there's mutual desire but the teams don't have the right resources to make it happen.


So we need to GO GET JENNINGS.

Sure. I didn't hide that I had Rivera's back initially, I brought it up many times including today. Like I said, I'll give really everyone time to play out their plan. Specific to Ron, I said on ES i didn't like his year 3 off season but was thinking it was building up to something in off season 4 but it never led to anything so then I turned on him.

As for being a hater, i don't think you'd find too many bigger haters of Cerrato, Bruce, and Dan and did so for many years. I made some enemies on ES centered on my strong criticisms of Bruce and Dan along with a few other people who are now at BGO who were also hated by them like I was.

While I am not as impatient as some as to Peters, I still am sticking to this off season is the big one for him in my eyes. And my button with him specifically involves how little he's done to help Jayden -- and if I see other 2024 rookie QB teams double down on helping their young QBs, and Peters doesn't do much -- yeah I am turning negative on him. This isn't like past regimes, we have a short window with IMO a franchise QB on a rookie deal, we don't have all the time in the world to get this right.

But to your point, the easy thing to do is bet against any regime with Dan as the owner, chances are you are going to be right.
 
Serious question... not dogpiling AP but at any point in recent history have we ever had such a bare cabinet? I don't remember a time where we had 1 starting receiver , "maybe starting" running back with not even a back up signed and no starting pass catching TE. Absolutely insane to spare AP criticism. I don't care about him him not going crazy on day 1, I hope he is being responsible. The 1 year old VET strategy has backfired and we are at square 1. Being where we are in year 3 is a you are what your record is moment no excuses. That is the frustrating part.

That's the point, I don't think a conditional 5th is what gets it done. Not sure what you mean "AP does his job 'this time... ?

I have been a big fan of Brian Thomas Jr since he came out of LSU. Actually slotted us to take a serious look at him coming out of LSU on the Blind Pig Podcast that year if we either traded back up into the back of the 1st round, or if he fell to us in the 2nd.

I’d give a 3rd and a mid round next year for him without blinking. He had a better rookie season than any season Terry has had. And he’s a cost controlled asset for another 3 years. We could invest that WR money elsewhere. I think I remember you likening him in that draft?

100% , free agency is still early but it’s pretty alarming considering how poor we were last year in free agency.

My post wasn't saying he was spared of criticism... just that it's a process.

As far as the 1 year deals backfiring, you could argue they're doing exactly what they're supposed to, and that there aren't long term values at all of these positions that he's signing.
 
I think for me the book on AP may very well be written with how this seasons FA finishes up. Year 1 FA, made some good pick ups with Eckler Luvu, and Ertz, but if I'm being fair that's not enough when rebuilding EVERYTHING. Then we see how well his midseason trade for Lattimore worked out for the team. Fast forward to year 2 FA. No real splashes of any kind. We gave a 5th for Deebo which turned out decent, might have been a good pick up had the entire team not ended up injured so much. And traded for Tunsil, which was a Great pick up. Now coming into year 3. Added a good edge, but have fully neglected the offense up to this point. I am holding out hope, however, failure to address some elements on the O will really sour me on AP.

I did like him a bit. I’d be okay with the third or lower. Third is iffy for me because I want Love at 7 and I think 71 will have a lot of good safeties.

But for BT I could come around on it.
 
The way free agency is going is about what I expected. AP seems to have a sweet spot when he makes an offer and either he doesn't like bidding wars or just doesn't think the juice is worth the squeeze on these tier 1 free agents we are losing out on.

I know we were supposed to be aggressive in free agency but what does that actually mean, aggressive just means you're going to sign a lot of players but it doesn't tell you what kind. I don't think we like overpaying for tier 1 free agents, seems to be a thing with this FO.
 
I think we’re going to wind up with maybe just Aiyuk at this point. And some fliers. Almost forces our hand at 7. But if Tate is gone that means we have to gamble.

I don’t know. I think our mismanagement of assets has hurt us a bit. Honestly starting with Terry last offseason.

But it’s still about 30 hours into tampering. So, lots of time. And there are going to be more releases.
