The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I will be extraordinarily disappointed if the FA playmaker signings are mild and then the team misses out on Love on top of that. I know Love was never a given, but I don't know who else they can rely on in the draft in the first or later to actually be a useful weapon on day 1.
I hear you. It was a pretty underwhelming FA class in terms of offensive weapons aside from Walker, though I guess it depends on how you define “mild”. With that said, if we could land Okonkwo or Goedert (for some reason I feel like Njoku is more likely for us), Jennings or Doubs, and maybe White as a 3rd down back, it would be a step in the right direction.

Most other sources seem to be saying circa $50M.
There are so many ways to shift things (roster bonus, signing bonuses, void years...), without the details they all seem to be guessing. I'd be curious how many actually have the details to really have a true answer.

K Fairbairn just got paid. 13M over 2 years. He's good, even kickers are getting paid a lot now.

Whatever the actual effective number I think we can conclude we have plenty of cap space available!

Yeah I’ve been big on getting Doubs at a market price for his production, but am getting a little squirrelly from the concussion discussion. Not just based on his potential availability, also it just seems wrong to sign a guy when it may be a part of a lifetime neurological damage problem. Felt the same about Austin Eckler.

Not saying that would be the case here, I don’t know how bad his history has been. But I’d bet the football front office types in general are more concerned with what they can get and not particularly focused on what that might do to the player.

Not getting the serotonin hits I need...seems like almost no team has signed anyone today.
Chenal
White (RB)
Doubs/Jennings/Mooney (slightly sad Zaccheus didn't come back)
Chig
Newsome (sounds like early reports aren't official of him signing elsewhere)/Woolen/Durant/Wright
Cross
Epenesa/Chaisson/Elliss

I get that it's probably tough to convince some CB's to come here given that they likely see Sainristil/Amos as the starters and players want to see the field. Conversely, I feel very strongly that we need at least 4 "starter" level players to feel comfortable with depth so I really see a need to add at least one more guy in that tier vs waiting for back end roster guys later in FA.

Yea, Nicki J was on and said it's crazy the money she's heard coming from the Jennings camp so expect either him or Doubs are going to be pricey. Not surprising because of what happened with Pierce's deal.

Seems that after the initial rush through the Walmart doors on black Friday to grab the big screen tvs the customers have settled down and started to pick through the remaining merchandise and guage if the prices are in their budgets.

Dorance Armstrong (3/33 contract - year 1 cap hit 4.88mil, 2 void years), Kinlaw (3/45 contract - year 1 cap hit 5.3 mil, 2 void years).

Year 1 hit is about 1/3 of the AAV.

Oweh over 4 years might be slightly different, but if we did another 2 void years and a target of about 1/3, I'd guess year 1 hit is about 8-9million.

So my assumption is take 9 off OvertheCap, add back about 16 mill to those likely taking the 25AAV to get a truer number. I'd imagine, we're in the middle with something slightly closer to the high side (so 65-70mil). But this is just a guess based on how last years deals went. 3/45 and 3/33 don't equal 100 mil, so there isn't a lot of data to pull from.

it’s painful, but it’s true. Tennessee’s GM has spent the money and done what it takes to mostly fill their other holes. They are penciling in Love at four, and looking forward to a little cap space replenishment when they get rid of pollard. Remember, they came in with basically the same needs we did… Edge, receiver. As well as a need for star power, and a highly drafted young quarterback who needs weapons to aid his development. They’ve had the same conversations we’ve had, and come to the same conclusion. They are taking Love.

We aren’t getting Love. I agree. Tennessee is taking him. I’d give up our 3rd and the 7th overall for him I think.

It feels like we are going to wind up with Jajuan Jennings and Rashad White.

Good thing we can roll over so much cap room. Again. Again again.
