Idk about that. I think they’re trying to create an environment where their young QB can learn and grow without the world being on his shoulders, heightening the chances that he develops into a guy who someday CAN carry their franchise. Pretty smart usage of cap dollars imo, we could have learned from it last year, raised our talent floor to take care of our QB, and prevented a lot of tears. Instead of handling the cap like Jayden is already destined to be due a $400M contract in a year or two, and we have to penny pinch before then, we should’ve been spending to enable him to become that guy, so we can justify that contract when the time comes (and make sure he wants to be here!).

I like what the Raiders are doing even if they don’t make the playoffs (they likely won’t). They’re playing the long game with the young QB they’re about to draft. Nothing else matters, once you draft that guy. Not until he’s a finished product. More talent on offense is good for him. More talent on defense means less pressure on him to be perfect when they eventually let him on the field.

The Raiders are trying hard, and no matter how hard they try, they are at best 3 of 4 in the AFCW.

That division is totally locked down.

For now. They should be focused on growing their young QB into a guy who can take over their division sometime during his second contract when Mahomes is ancient. And imo that’s what they’re doing, setting themselves up to try to be a place where a young QB can grow organically and not be ruined. It’s a long game thing imo

I mean, he had 60 catches last year and stretches the field. And is a top, TD-scoring KR.

When was the last time we had a 2nd WR catch 60+ balls, Crowder 1.0? McLaurin usually averages only 1 catch per game more than 60 (75-80).

Dude, McCaffrey was just as good in the return game. SHaheed, and his 1 catch a game and inability to make a difference otherwise, just got paid almost 20M a year. Good thing Peters isn't that dumb.
