The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I think Allegretti is likely plan B if they can't upgrade. Voice - I think you are wrong both on the Vikings and Atlanta (in fact, the Falcons are rumored to be going after Tua). There are more QB vacancies than you are identifying in other words. I wouldn't sign Mariota as my starter, but maybe someone will. So I think it's more likely than not he is back with us, but certainly not a guarantee until it happens.
Yeah, I just saw the Atlanta thing for Tua. That makes no sense to me.

But even with that, Atlanta was never in the market for Mariota, things didn't end for him well down there.

The Vikings, who knows. Maybe they sign somebody else to compete with McCarthy. Maybe that is Mariota. But at that point they are giving up on McCarthy after 1 injury year and essentially a red shirt rookie season. I think they will probably want to try one more time to make it work before admitting they made the mistake I said they were making when they drafted McCarthy. I would give them props to give up earlier though.

I don't think it's a guarantee he's back, but I think it's overstated how many bridge starting jobs exist, or are at least open to him. Which is why I think he's back.

I actually think the bigger reason he might not be back is if he wants low-end starting money from us based on last year and we don't want to pay that much. Like, I'd pay him $7-10m. If he wants a raise, I'm not sure I'm down for much more than that. He's a great backup, but he's a backup.

If it is Linderbaum, I agree with the post about its about the run game. He moves VERY well in a zone scheme. As a pass blocker, he's undersized and average at best so I won't love those matchups against Dexter Lawrence.

12:02 and no news yet?

Pierce going back to Indy

Standig just now. Where he's a little different.

Thinks they do nothing at TE aside from add depth

Doesn't love the idea of going for Linderbaum, but understands if they do, not sure if they do it.

He's sticking to if its Aiyuk they aren't signing a major Wr with him.
Just like others, I think he's speculating, maybe speculating off of what he's hearing from agents.

I really hope they don't just go with Aiyuk and nothing else. That will be a huge risk. I'll let it play out before passing judgement, because it could work out great, but it would be a gargantuan gamble.

It's not a risk I would take for sure.

I've never understood how a FA can announce at 12:01 that they are going to a new team and pretend with a straight face that they haven't been "talking"

Why the hell didn't the Colts just franchise tag the guy. They are paying him that money anyway.
Why didn't they do the deal 3 weeks ago. I can't imagine they were that far apart.

It's odd, but eh, it's the NFL.

Chiefs RBs and WRs scare me. Any name from either of those positions usually has a personal history that only the Chiefs and Browns are allowed to close their eyes to.

Nearly the time where we land that 3 year 45m deal with a player that makes the fanbase go into meltdown.

It would be ridiculous IMO if its Aiyuk and a low budget WR. IMO Aiyuk should be the gravy.
