The 2026 Free Agency Thread

What about Nolan Smith?
Dont know but plenty enough noise that this team likes Phillips and the Eagles want to retain him.

if so interesting fight, and I wonder if Lurrie’s tact of using cash as a weapon via signing bonuses and guaranteed money helps beat Harris to this player among other reasons

What else would he say? “Oh, shit! Not Allegretti! That guy can’t block my grandma with a walker!” I mean, I wouldn’t read too much into this.
I resd into it because it plays into what some reporters have heard, too. But they also heard he’d get some competition for the job. Will see.

Yep i include Cosmi. 20 million cap hit this year then its 19 in 2027 and 19 in 2028.

Tough for me to come up with a team with three 20 million plus players at that spot. If Tunsil and Linerbaum get what some expect that would mean 75 million on the o line on three players alone. That would likely mean 90 million to that unit on the aggregate. I would assume by a mile it would be the most in the league.

Keim in his podcast today flat out said they won’t pursue Linderbaum. So if they end up doing it it will be some rare in Keim’s face happening.

i get your love of the player and the thought behind it. If this were the early 90s pre free agency I’d be all in. But no way I’d pay 25 million for a center with all that this teams needs.
Ok initially read your take as pure salary as opposed to cap hit. The cap hits in 2026 for Tunsil and Linderbaum, wherever they are playing, won’t be near the figures you’re quoting. Linderbaum for example might get 4/90m, voidable year added, 18m 2026 cap hit max.

Well I mean he could have said “I’m excited for him” or any variation of, but to say “I’m excited for his opportunity” sounds more like he’s excited for, i don’t know, an opportunity that has presented itself him? It could just be for LG. While I agree, I wouldn’t read too much into some random words, but it’s not that far fetched to think we don’t do anything to upgrade that position.

They did give up a 3rd for him that I assume they will get back as a comp pick of he goes elsewhere.

Phillips is clearly a Fangio guy

I don't think anybody knows what we're going to do at center. I probably agree with Standig that it doesn't seem overly likely they will sign Linderbaum to a $20m/year deal.

But I also don't think they're going to go into the season just giving Allegretti the role.

They're going to sign a FA at center who is at least a capable starter. They were also the same guys who benched Allegretti last year. They're not going to put all of their eggs into that basket.

And as an aside, nowhere has it been reported directly (or maybe indirectly?) that this was a cash saving move. I think people have said "they save this amount of cash" but i don't think there has been any correlation between that fact and a reason why they released Biadasz.

Keim talked about it being a cash saving move. Pretty directly.

Yeah Pierce would be a great get. I am fine with Aiyuk in a one year prove it deal -- BFF with Jayden and he'd have to prove himself to get that next contract.

I'd go Mafe over Oweh but good with both. As far as Phillips goes he's a beast when healthy, and can also stop the run, but not sure about his health?

I like Taylor, too at CB.

I'd be happy with Rachaad White at CB even though he's not my top choice.

Why Mafe over Oweh? Oweh is the same age, probably more athletic, and has had one of the best pass rush win rates over the past few years. He’s been more productive than Mafe, no?

Regarding the Keim podcast, it really sounds like we are signing Aiyuk. I wonder when he’s released. Keim said maybe in the next week, but it seems like maybe San Fran is not expediently releasing him to be petty. If the don’t need the cap money, maybe they could time to drag their feet. My take. Not Keim’s.

I think Pierce is going to be too expensive. I am very pro spending, or even overspending on a FA you want. But $30 million for a guy that’s going to get 45-50 catches?

Broken record. Give me Shaheed, Okonkwo, Rashad White, Aiyuk on offense. Not even that expensive, but a massive, massive upgrade, and leaves us a bunch of money on defense.

On defense, I’d love Oweh, a top tier CB, an Okonkwo level LB, and a moderately priced safety that fits.

That’s a huge roster upgrade, and leaves us room to drag Love, Styles, Reese, Downs, Bailey, even Tate. Really, anybody that falls

Not mentioned by anyone but could Cade Mays from Carolina be Tyler's replacement at OC?

He’s been mentioned as a possibility in a few articles I’ve read. Definitely need some legit comp for Allegretti.

You are right just going over the stats. What I was thinking about is some say Oweh is an underacheiver and worry about how he responds post contract. But otherwise Oweh with better stats, true.

I'll add I should have dove in his stats. I kept hearing how the Ravens were disappointed. But in 2024, he had 10 sacks. I guess its predicated on the first 3 seasons where his stats weren't hot at least as to sacks but he's been strong two seasons in a row.

Hopefully the Eagles resign him for 25M a year, and he keeps up his 8 games a year playing time average with them for the duration.
