Well, one thing is for sure - Biadasz must not suck to get signed that fast for that kind of money as a center. Goes against the narrative of some just a little.

Scheme fit is a question still - but I’m not sure if it should be. He looked like he moved pretty well to me on film but I haven’t done a really detailed watch of him yet - been busy.

Get the sense listening to Keim, they didn't think Biadaz sucks, but didn't like him as much for an outside zone dominated run scheme and thought Allegretti was as good. Will see though.

I listend to it. A little disappointing to me from a Keim podcast pre FA, his early podcasts this week were more informative. Graziano didn't seem to know squat. My only takeaway was Keim seemed to emphasize a little more in his questioning Graziano -- what does he think Phillips market will be.

Out of that list, Lloyd is the best player and would be a major upgrade, he is also still young. With Styles' stock improving, he likely goes before 7, so any upgrade at MLB will have to be via FA.

The Vikings snatched Jonathan allen up pretty quick last year and at the time it felt a little like the biadasz situation and it didn't work out well for the vikings.

This is what im using to cope until free agency begins and hoping its not like last year where we sign the javon kinlaw of centers.

yeah this whole lets cut Biadaz (who is good and on a reasonable contract) without having a clear back up plan, is starting to worry me.. its not like Peters or Quinn have shown much of anything in the player evaluation department based on their lukewarm at best drafting and FA history. This will be a major head scratcher when our center play start to go down hill w Cokeman/ Alegreti combo by mid season. Why not keep Biadaz for one more year while slowly working the other two in to the fold?

Standig addressed the could they have gotten a pick for Biadaz drill, he doubts it, assumes he was shopped. You got me if Peters did or not. And lol I know fans love bashing Peters so on twitter this thought has become hot. You never know.

I am just going by the past. It's not easy to get picks for players who aren't young-cheap or stars. They tried to shop Jonathan Allen, got no offers, so released him. Bears apparently the same with T. Edwards. Bills released a good center, etc.

Generally speaking, I think some of the angst is/was over the top - decent-good players are getting cut all over the league for a variety of reasons, and it’s not really all that different from letting a guy walk in FA (without a replacement in place).

I think the more salient point, as you point out, is that it’s hard to have faith in Peters adequately replacing him (and Paul for that matter), particularly when reporters suggest (paraphrasing here) they won’t spend much at the position. The prospect of relying on Coleman/Allegretti is a bit concerning, and the potential for weakening our oline while we’re trying to keep Daniels healthy, give him weapons, and putting a novice OC in place… there’s a lot of risk involved.

On the bright side, it’s still possible we land an upgrade at center - there are some pretty good options available. And if we don’t, there’s also the chance we cross-train Wiley at LG (competing with Coleman), and draft a good center prospect (who either wins a battle with Allegretti or takes over in the near future). But man, if things don’t work out (as I’ve pointed out previously) it feels like this could have a major hand in sinking our season, which opens up a whole other set of problems.

I mentioned it hit me that Keim in his last podcast emphasized some Jalean Phillips as to his questions to Graziano, so here he goes again. I'd put money that they will pursue him.

Washington Commanders​

Biggest need: Defense. The focus will be at edge rusher-- they lack depth and need more speed/athleticism. But they also need more corners -- they have just two experienced ones under contract. Also on the list are linebackers and perhaps a safety. When you rank 27th in scoring and last in yards, the needs are plentiful.

FA most likely on the move: LG Chris Paul. He's one of many, including receiver Deebo Samuel. But Paul is a mild surprise because he's young and coming off his best season. However, they'll let him test free agency, and if he fails to land an expected deal, Washington would welcome him back on a one-year contract. However, the Commanders also have Brandon Coleman, a third-round pick in 2024 who opened last season at left guard before being benched in part because of durability issues.

What do you expect to happen: Sign an edge rusher. It's atop the priority list. The Commanders could use a young rusher, whether Jaelan Phillips or someone of that caliber. They crave depth at this spot after having their top three edge defenders suffer season-ending injuries last season, notably Dorance Armstrong. He had 5.5 sacks in six full games and was the only consistent disruptor. -- John Keim
