The 2026 Free Agency Thread

No doubt, all I want is an offseason like the patriots had last year then fill in the rest with cheaper guys.

I think you'd be fooling yourself if you expected or even hoped they'd fill 30 roster spots with marquee free agents.

All im hoping for is 2 or 3 that get noticed then maybe another 3 or 4 that are solid contributors, the other 15 to 20 can be mostly camp body/low depth kind of guys.

3 marquee FAs, and 4-5 modest FAs can turn this roster around.

Pats, Seahawks both aggressive reshaping their roster with Fa. I read somewhere that Denver built their formidable defense mostly with free agents -- they were saddled with that awful Russell Wilson contract that hurt their cap AND the loss of draft picks, yet they bounced back.

Some may recall when Gibbs came back that initial off season they rebuilt their wretched defense mostly via FA.

It's doable. I know we are conditioned with the dummie regimes Washington has had that FA isn't where its at. And yeah no doubt you can screw it up. But a smart GM can build a team with strong help from FA.

Well there's a lot of criticism regarding the roster make up, and we're into the 3rd rendition of what is seemingly the same story. Likely a number of short term contracts to continue to field a 53 man roster, a couple 'longer' term contracts, and draft picks. The alternative to what we've been watching happen, is signing a bunch of guys to multi-year deals that ultimately end up weighing down the roster. There aren't just a bunch of 25 year old depth guys walking the street either, those guys are on rosters elsewhere. Free Agents are free agents because they either got too expensive for their current team (doesn't mean they aren't worth it), or they weren't good enough for their current team. The first guy cost a lot, the second guy you hope you can get more out of them but don't want to invest long term because there is a reason they're unemployed. So I understand the frustration with the choice to continue to buy short term, i also can understand that those 'worthy' of a long term spend may not exactly be out there just ready to be picked up.

Yeah i get that logic too.

It all boils down to picking the right players i guess just like the draft.

Peters better be the busiest man in DC next week.
The rest of this week too. We have a couple guys that I think they'd like to get resigned or extended before the 9th...Yes I am including Tunsil KDawg

Also they need 100% ready to attack come Monday!

I mean we have a ton of cap.

And you didn’t include Tunsil in that group. Are we still assuming he’s locked in? I have abstained from discussing him since my ban of talking about him.
I wasn't including any of the teams players they wish to extend or resign, just the new FAs

I got this alert on my phone. I saw the first few words and said, “WE DID IT!”

In your opinion are there 3 marquee FAs? Not sure I see any FA that are top 5 at their position this year.

I think we can add players that will help, but not sure I see any game changers available.

Shy Tuttle is a real person/player? I thought that was just a BS posting lol

If you define marquee as a top 5 player, then nope, its rare especially in recent years to see a top 5 player to hit the market.

to me marquee are something like what Milton Williams and Josh Sweat were last year in FA, not the best of the best, but very good players who are available.

If they sign a dude like a Mafe at DE to me he's a big enough player, especially if they add another like Ebiketie.

WR guys like Doubs and Jennings and Shaheed are close to the top of the market in FA.

But yeah I am not expecting Jamar Chase, Myles Garrett, etc to hit the market.

The Patriots, Seahawks, Denver etc reloaded their team without A list superstars. Adding a bunch of good to very good players can change a team.

Keim got this one, I mentioned this the other day, but alas I don't care about Wise.

The problem is, he's a whole lot better return man than he is a WR.
And we're kinda okay there, barring injury

I'm scared to death. About everything.
