The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Daniel Jones is such an up and down player, he's likely to get signed to a long-term deal and then revert back to the mistake prone guy we saw in New York at times.

He's just not that predictable from one year to another and frankly I would not be looking to pay him.

Do you think Colts fans are excited about having Danny Dimes but potentially not having Pittman or Pierce?

Do you think it might be logical for them, in this moment, to be doubting their FO’s decision making?

I’m sure there are a few saying, “hey, maybe they’re close to a deal with Pierce and they wanted to get the tag on Dimes before the deadline…”

And I’m sure they could be on the money with that assessment, too. They very well may be close. So right now, this looks good. But if they lose Pierce? I’m betting there will start to be some frustrated fans showing up.

This is how being a fanatic works. We look at things through whatever lense we currently see them and then see how things play out.

If they lose Pierce, I doubt they cut Pittman.

But I am with you on their Front Office. Ballard has repeatedly botched the QB, and has never been held accountable. He's been there 9 seasons now, made the playoffs just twice, and won one playoff game.

I said Pittman or Pierce.

Linderbaum and Pierce on day 1, please.

The Commanders are more likely to try and sign a guy like Nailor than go after a top level $25-30M player.

It's just how this front office seems to roll even when the club has been among those with the largest pool of cap monies each of the past 2 seasons.

We seem to do most of our damage via trade.

In some ways this team's operation reminds me of the 1970's, as if meaningful free agency really doesn't exist.

That's been their m.o. so far for sure but there are defendable reasons for why they didn't go crazy in free agency the first two years.

This year however there's no excuse for not using the cap, we have giant holes all over the roster, very limited draft capital and the most money to spend.
If they shop at the dollar store this year, not only are we screwed in 2026 but there will be no reason to ever expect them to do whatever it takes to win.

On Keim's Washington Free Agents pod -

-There will be competition brought in at center
-Looking for more athletic offensive lineman (letting Paul walk but could be back if he doesn't get what he wants)
-No Deebo
-Ertz only in emergency maybe later in season
-Will bring in more at TE
-50/50 on Wagner, not sure of fit but maybe situational guy
-Mariota is a good chance to come back
-No Ekler
-CRod makes sense to come back
-D Wise he could see him back for depth
-Sees Burks coming back for depth (6th rotational) but will get another WR or 2
-Drake Jackson maybe 1 yr deal
-Jacob Martin sees him as backup pass rusher would like to bring back
-Von Miller maybe later in season
-Sees Jeremy McNichols on a 1 yr

Note: He'll have another Pod this week with names on possible FA's outside the team
I dont see CRod and McNichols both back. But I am in on having Burks back. Done with Wagner in passing situations. But if he is willing to be a rotational guy that is fine as well.

I have a suspicion that the Colts will still get a deal done with pierce before free agency begins but I'd be pretty happy if they didn't.

I don’t really agree that there’s anything defensible about how we approached last offseason, but the rest I agree with.

I mean if you’re him at this point you could always go back to the Colts during the tamper period after you hear initial offers. Signing now so close to the deadline, when you know you’re free of the threat of any tag, feels like it would be leaving money on the table for no reason even if you were inclined to stay with the Colts as Plan A

Those 2 plus Hendrickson or Oweh would completely change this team. And allow us to really go BPA at pick 7. Or even trade back for more draft capital (preferably in nest years draft_ No need to reach for a specific position at all.
