I think our 2024 free agent class was quite good: Biadasz, Luvu, Armstrong all fit that description, Jeremy Chinn was solid.

Biadasz is mainly who I was forgetting, that’s a good one. Armstrong was more of a perceived rotational guy who turned out to be better than that, good call. Chinn felt replacement level at best when we signed him, but little did I know we’d beg for that by the end of 2025

My sleeper move of the offseason is they cut Biadasz. Despite solid individual play, it wouldn't surprise me if they see him as the onfield embodiment of whatever failures they are placed on Bobby Johnson

You can’t just lay something out like that and not explain it.

Linderbaum. If not him, McGovern, Corbett, Karras and Brett Toth all solid to very good options. Corbett and Toth both intriguing as sleepers.

EDIT: Toth majored in physics and nuclear engineering, graduated from the US Military Academy and was a graduate assistant there in 2018. Something tells me he probably has the aptitude to check the box on the cerebral side of the game

I did. Clearly they weren’t happy about something with the OL play and the center is effectively the onfield coach

PFF (for what it's worth) has McGovern rated almost the same as Biadsz and the same age.

Brett Toth is a back up C/G type, and almost 30. I don't see how he's an upgrade. Corbett is also 30-plus.

The only one I'd take there is Linderbaum, I didn't realize he was a free agent. I don't see him leaving Baltimore.

That’s the point you aren’t getting. If they let Biadasz go, it’s because they aren’t happy with how he calls the game on the field. All those PFF scores don’t tell you anything regarding that.

So, after Peters openly said he needs to get younger, they're going to get older and less effective? You seem to think Biasasz getting cut is a foregone conclusion. Only Linderbaum here is a demonstrable upgrade.

Likewise several reported that Stapleton was very involved in the game planning and blocking schemes the last two years, and was instrumental in developing Conerly. It seems entirely possible he was a better overall coach.

As good as the linemen were individually, they struggled vs defensive playcallers like Flores and Macdonald against stunts and advanced blitzes. Heck, Fluss’s band of castoffs had 4 sacks in the 1st meeting of the teams

And you missed my point entirely. I don't think the problem with Johnson was the Xs and Os, primarily. Our line was very good this year.

They were more concerned with development, based on information at hand. I do expect them to incorporate more zone scheme, which Stapleton has experience running, and also
meshes with Lynn's experience in SF under Shanahan. Likewise, several trusted people have said this line is athletic enough to run it.

But I don't see Biadasz getting cut, let alone for the list you provided.

That doesn’t make logical sense. If development was the issue, why promote the guy who was tasked with development into the lead role?

Where does Stapleton have experience running a zone scheme in the NFL? This is his first NFL job. Bobby has spent 15 years in the NFL as a coach. He likely has some zone experience

I never said he did it in the NFL, I said he had experience running it. It was something Bullock posted I found interesting as to why they moved on.

It seems to me Stapleton was doing more of the work--but we have no idea what the reality is, we can only make educated guesses. I'd also say they want more development out of their OL coaches, if what Keim said is true about Johnson. So we'll see--id love to have Linderbaum. But Biadasz is a very good center, he's only $11m against the cap next year. I just don't see it.

I would think that Washington has enough roster challenges that cutting or trading a solid center and having to find a replacement and pay him is not near the top of the offseason want list.

I think we use free agency to get a #2 WR and TE, as well as replacement for Payne, and then go into the draft to take pass rushing DE and depth at linebacker.

We need a reset at safety and depth at corner, whether safeties are mid-tier free agents or a draft pick........could be either.

True, keep the good and upgrade the rest. This FA season will be a great indicator about where AP is taking us. IMO, we need via FA starting level:
WR #1.5
TE
LB
EDGE or 2
S
CB.
^That's a lot, and will be more on the list if we start cutting what we have. Since we only have ONE pick in the top 2 rounds to add whatever is missing at ED, S or WR, we best not be sitting on the checkbook either.

Have seen reports that Harbaugh will try to scoop as many of his Ravens guys in FA as he can to help set his culture in NY. With Linderbaum being the top guy mentioned. Not sure if NY needs a Center.

I do not see Baltimore letting Linderbaum go, he's one of the best centers in the league. The Giants do not have a whole lot of cap space either, so I don't see them spending where they have even serviceable starters: Likely over Theo Johnson, Linderbaum over JMS.
