That’s never been the case with Jennings to be fair, he’s always been a dog and known to put his body on the line as a blocker and over the middle before. They do but they also have too many good players who are scheduled to be FAs. They will need to set priorities and let some go.

I'm not sure foresight is something this front office group does.

Ben Johnson, McDonald being high end potential candidates that wanted to come to DC last year turning into Dan Quinn... the coordinator hires last year turning into coordinator firings this year... the Tunsil trade without getting him signed long term while giving up huge assets... resting on our laurels of the NFCCG season instead of truly improving on the roster (we made significant positive moves on the OL, but downgraded in other significant places such as safety, wide receiver (despite signing Deebo, losing the glue guys like OZ hurt us quite a bit), defensive end and defensive tackle.

Having said that - Peters is still learning how to be a full time GM and make moves. He seems intelligent and like he learns from his mistakes. So I have some hope he is going to be on top of these situations and move fast.

Agreed and we are left crossing our fingers that AP (and DQ) have indeed mature enough that they must use foresight beyond just whats good today

Perhaps, along with Shaheed who they just gave up 2 draft picks for and a bunch of their LB and DB group.

Also they will need to be concerned with extending any of their top players who are in the final year of their contract, like we have with Tunsil?

They just extended Cross. JSN is heading into his 4th year with the 5th yr option a complete given. They'll extend him next year. After last night, I see no chance Seattle lets him walk.

It's funny because here on our site, somewhere down on him being a FA target. That mind set didn't make sense to me, I had him as RB2 for targets

I know it was a beat down last night but K9’s performance obviously spoke for itself. I still say he’s every bit as good as Breece. Seattle loves Charbs more though, so I don’t see the Seahawks paying up for him. He’s no complainer, but he has to have felt a little disrespected at times. I think (hope) he’s ready to leave. We can give him the clear lead back roll he deserves.

The Chiefs tried to trade for Breece Hall at the end of the trade deadline and they didn’t get it done… but they have to try again here. The appeal of playing with Mahomes and a traditionally strong football team is going to be difficult for us to usurp with DQ and Blough as the guys at the controls. Jayden gives us a bit of a chance, but I think he goes to KC.

Walker is going to be in high demand if he gets to FA - I’d look right at Minnesota. They need a back, they have a good defense and KOC knows how to get their use out of backs. They need to figure out the QB situation, but I can see Walker finding them appealing.

Etienne might be our most realistic opportunity. I can see Carolina going after him, but I think we can compete with them. The thing is, though, Carolina with an offensive minded HC and trending positive.

I think we have some chance at these guys but it’s not high.

Then I look at the receivers/tight ends… Pierce, Evans, Doubs, Pitts, Likely…

I think Indy is going to do their best to get Pierce back, but if not I think we have a chance there.

Evans to Tampa.

Doubs I like but if they are worried about concussions he’ll be off our board. But he doesn’t have a real high injury rate all things considered.

Pitts I’m not all that high on myself but I think we can be in the running there - very dependent on a few things. I think the Titans are going to back the brinks up. We need to see what they are doing with their coaching staff. But we can be in play here.

Likely is another one I think we can be in play with. We are close proximity to Baltimore which can be a positive. I actually think of all the names I’ve talked about here he might be the most… likely.

So let’s say we wind up with Likely in this group… we still need a receiver and a back to make the offense move.

Defensively we need a pass rushing edge. Badly. We need a linebacker or two. We need two safeties.

If we fill two of these with high quality starters, that still leaves us with a ton of holes heading into the draft and a lack of picks.

I’m concerned. I’m not worried yet - but I’m concerned.

Perhaps all the more reason to draft a guy like Jeremiah Love at 7. Gives us a legit all around rb like Jahmyr Gibbs and a huge weapon on offense.

Personally, I really don't want to pay Pitts for 2025. I am super concerned he's Daron Payne at TE. Shows up as a rookie, then fades into obscurity til the new contract is on the line. Does he get paid and regress, or is 2025 the rule, not the exception?

I like White as a pass catcher.

But he’s a career 3.9 ypc guy. Better the last two years at 4.3.

I really like Pro Football Reference’s stat “rush success rate”

White is a 47%.

McNichols 45

White had 15 more receptions than McNichols, who was used sparingly. White feels, to me, like a slight upgrade to McNichols but he may not even be that. And he’s going to cost a lot more, I think.

Not against, but I don’t think he’s the guy we need.

Edit: keep in mind as with all stats context is important. There are some outstanding backs with success rates near his.

Also, I need to edit. The 47 is his career rate. He was at a 53 last year, which is pretty good. Im feeling a bit better about him. But I don’t know how much of an upgrade he is with only around 150 touches. But if the money is right I’d take him.
