"Get playmakers and let them make plays". The Gospel according to Saint Keim. We don't do that, which is sooooo mind boggling. We get 'em and then ask them to do things other than what makes them special, or we sit 'em without pro development because there's no coach on staff qualified to elevate their game to the pro level. Harris is asking for answers to this, and DQ had damn well have some good answers in January.

Imagine what he can do with a good QB

If Harris is looking for answers its not all on DQ. AP is on the hook for a lot of the answers, especially personnel wise.

Atlanta has been a hot mess for a while now. Penix is a pretty good QB and Cousins isn't shit and they have provided them with some of the top weapons in the NFL

I listen for the reporting but he doesn’t seem like the sharpest guy. His latest is “you don’t want them to lose…because there will be major changes” as pushback against the draft slot

I think the fanbase wants real changes and each loss is a forcing function that increases the probability that AP and DQ get that much more aggressive in the offseason.

From a personnel standpoint, I don’t want them, for example, penciling Sainristil in as a starter next year even if he has a good finish. That guy needs to be in a legit competition for a starting position in camp next year and guys like Quan and the rest of the entire 2024 draft day 2 guys need to be in danger of not making the roster next year

From a coaching standpoint, Whitt is definitely gone but his cronies coaching the secondary need to be gone too. The DQ defensive scheme does not work anymore to run an elite NFL D given the number of teams that run Shanahan schemes. More and more, I want DQ to realize this and be more open to hiring a guy with a different defensive philosophy.

Kyle Pitts 6 rec 111 yards 2 TDs...IN THE FIRST HALF! Yes please!
Haha I thought that was him stumbling into the end zone last night… Three times!!! I poo pooed him earlier in this thread, but I’m ready to hop on board now. Probably over reacting to a career game, but we’ve seen plenty of late bloomer TEs. Give me him or Likely… Both only 25. Obviously, either one could easily be a bust, but players at this age are who we should be signing in free agency.

Aaaaaaamen to this! I've never seen a secondary regress like this one. And you're right about the defensive philosophy. Can't keep it as is.

There is talk of Atlanta possibly tagging Pitts for 2026.

I am still looking at Lively and either Hall or Walker being big offense upgrades leading into the draft

Falcons are a bit of a wild card, their cap situation isn't great, they have no first round pick, no QB, and need to extend Drake London. I could see them tagging Pitts, but committing $15ish million going to be feasible?

They’re getting a new GM and coach probably. As we’ve seen, new orgs tend to get rid of the old org’s guys even when they should keep them

I hope AP doesn't resign Deebo to a new contract. We need to move on. He's had injuries bother him in the past as it did this year. Hope he cuts ties with Payne too. Need to re-up Tunsil to a new 3 or 4 year deal.

With you on Payne... not so much on Deebo.... 100% to Tunsil.

I think Deebo still has some juice, and I'd love to see what he can do with something else around him. If we go this season with Terry McLaurin and Austin Ekeler healthy, I think Deebo is even more effective because he's not the ONLY thing we've truly got on offense. I think the whole offense felt the pain of all of the injuries, and there's still more there than we've seen. I'm not saying that I wouldn't understand the decision to move on, and of course everything is predicated on it being 'the right price.' Success in the NFL is very largely determined by matchups, so having a guy that can create favorable matchups is the ultimate goal. Deebo, when he's not the primary target, can do that.

Ekeler is a FA after this season. And dont see AP bringing him back with his injury situation (ACL) at his age. Agree about Deebo, but it would depend on the numbers.

HTTR!

Im not saying run it back with Ekeler, i'd actually be surprised if he plays again. I just meant that had Ekeler and Terry been healthy in 2025 it would have looked different.

I like draft sharks a lot they give a comprehensive layout of a player's injury history. Deebo's is extremely long and I'd pass. I hope AP does too. If you haven't, please check it out below.

49ers placed WR Brandon Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list.
If you’re not familiar with the reserve/left squad list, that’s okay, it is something typically reserved for players about to retire. The awkward saga between Aiyuk and the 49ers appears to be ending in a messy divorce, with the recent move by the team all but ensuring the two sides split in the coming offseason. The transaction also officially ends Aiyuk’s 2025 season before it began. Stay tuned through the offseason
