The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

For fun - what if the Giants took Styles and KC still moved up to get Delane…would Skins have drafted Reese? I’m glad it worked out the way it did. I had Styles > Reese.
I feel like they would've taken downs then

Texans trade up with Bills:

Texans: 26, 91
Bills: 28, 63, 168

Huh. Did the Texans really need to trade up two picks to get him? Maybe, SF traded out right after they traded in and placed their pick

So several posters have bemoaned winning the pointless game we were supposed to lose last year and ending up with a draft position of 7 instead of 5. But turned out our pick at 5 would have been the same Styles we got at 7 anyhow. Father Fate works in mysterious ways.

gawd...whenever I see schefter, I wanna flush his head in a toilet or shove him into a locker

edit: also, apparently, Miami is in California also. thanks ESPN!

I think this is the right strategy. But I don’t get why they took him over Styles.

I think they wanted Love but went with the consensus BPA with both picks, but yeah Sonny would make more sense to me in that role.

I’m happy with how it worked out for us. Sonny has the things that can’t be taught and has shown he can be taught.

Many years where that is not the case. Most years, I’d argue.

Wonder if we can expect this from the Giants from now on…Ravens always took the obvious BPA in his time there, it feels like

Well I think we can go play right now on defense. And be very good.

We could use another corner but with some luck with injuries and an actual pass rush we will survive. Our linebacking room is SO much better it’s silly.

On offense though we desperately need to add a couple of quality receivers. Aiyuk pretty much has to happen and we could be looking at post draft trades or cuts.

Two new coordinators and a mess of new players.

So, no time to gel? This is supposed to be a well oiled machine from the get go?

Experience watching the game says show some patience.
Nope. I have no patience with this. It was clear that the plan was to upgrade significantly on the defensive side. Their biggest FA signings (apart from Chig) were all defensive guys.

They fired and replaced the coordinator and got the guy they apparently wanted.

It has to come together pretty damn quickly. If it starts out as a top 15 defense and then grows into a top 10, that's fine. But it has to finish at that level, absent another rash of ridiculous injuries.

I'll have more patience for the offense, where the only real addition is Chig and a few depth pieces at WR and RB. I'll have patience there. But not on defense.
