Watching DJ’s mock. Lol cringe. I agree with his point talking to Charles Davis that they need to help Jayden. But they give them Tyson. And 2 picks before Love goes to the Giants. Thats my version of draft hell but i dont think it happens so not worried about Tyson

I’m seeing two themes on here today:

1. We have not invested in the offense and need to do more to support Jayden.

2. The defense is much improved or we are set on defense.

I disagree on both counts.

1. We traded a high draft pick for Tunsil and gave him a big contract, we made Terry one of the highest paid receivers in football, we spent a first round pick on Conerly, we paid Bates a hefty contract, we drafted guys like Coleman, Sinnott, LMC, Lane, and JCM. We signed a TE, brought back Dyami, etc. Sure it’s not the Hogs or the Posse, but there has been major effort to build the line in front of Jayden and the weapons around him.

2. While we did bring in a number of defensive free agents, we also lost our leading tackler in Wagner, half of our cornerbacks (Lattimore, Noah Iggy, Jonathan Jones), and Jacob Martin. We did add some decent edge rushers and a good LB, but the situation at CB is bleak. Also keep in mind we had the worst defense in football last year in terms of yards allowed.

Not saying we don’t need a WR, just this narrative that our defense is set and our offense has been ignored isn’t true.

Still Love first for me. I think he’s the best weapon we can give JD and I stick to that. Tate is next.

Then Delane, Styles and Downs.

But I have given up hope on Love.

I agree with all this except I would rank Tate below Delane. Though you and SIP have convinced me Tate is good, so I’ll probably be satisfied with any of those guys.

Meh. I would definitely look into it. 33 receptions for 500+ is better than anyone we’ve signed not named Deebo.

But it would depend on what “day 3 pick” means. A 7th? I’d very much consider it. But he may wind up getting released. Of course, then we risk him picking elsewhere.

One year left on contract. That is killing me. It’s like everyone on our team is required to only have a year on their contracts.

Fair enough, maybe that’s an inaccurate or overstated summary of what I’ve been reading, but a lot of people on here hate the idea of using the number #7 pick on defense for reasons along those lines. They are certainly saying Jayden needs help and implying he isn’t getting support. It also seems to me they feel the defense has at least been addressed, but maybe I’m misreading that. This conversation is moving fast.

It’s fine if you feel that way about Tate, but it’s actually Tyson who has HORRIBLE movement patterns. The way he places his feet and cuts puts insane strain on his hips, knees, and ankles and that’s part of why he’s hurt all the time. People think it looks explosive but he moves like someone trying to tear a ligament.

Fusue’s been posting about it a lot lately. In my eyes it’s actually Tyson who has the RG3 legs and movement and it’s going to keep haunting him:



Fusue is a nutter in a lot of ways but he pays obsessive attention to detail when it comes to how guys cut and move, points it out every year (especially if a prospect has valgus knees, or cuts like Tyson), and more often than not those guys do get hurt more often. He called it with Nabors as well and many others.

It’s not about having thin legs, it’s how you anchor and move and where your weight is over your feet and hips, and how your ankles roll as you move over your feet. Tyson is a huge red flag with this stuff and it doesn’t matter if his legs “look” more solid. Kadarius Toney was built like a horse in comparison and couldn’t keep healthy because of the way he moved and cut.

Damn, that was painful to watch.

I absolutely feel like the defense has had a ton of resources dedicated to it and we haven’t supported Jayden.

Tunsil was a great get. Conerly? So far looks solid.

Paul kinda stinks and we cut the starting center.

Our receivers stink.

Chig statistically had a nearly identical season to Ertz in 3 more games last year (I agree his upside is higher but let’s pump the brakes). I’m happy with the running back additions… but they’re all on one year deals…

After this season for receivers and RBs the only guys under contract are:

McLaurin (possible cut candidate due to salary)
Jaylin Lane
Luke McCaffrey
Bill

That’s it. From both rooms.

Oh and our OC has a month of position coach experience and his staff doesn’t have much more.

While our defense is far from set, I have more confidence in Daronte and the pieces we’ve already signed to drastically improve the defense. Downs is better than Cross, but Cross is capable. The Flores’ style defense thrives without high end corners (though it would be nice to have one).

The resources are incredibly lopsided right now. We need to support Jayden with something of quality. We haven’t done that. The closest skill position add we added to being a needle mover was Deebo. And we let him walk.

This is true. It’s important to acknowledge.

We must also acknowledge that Adam Peters has not helped himself, by also not drafting the number of foundational players you’d expect with the draft picks we’ve had. 2024 was a disaster aside from Jayden Daniels, in this regard. He had three 2nds and two 3rds and the rest of the draft to play with. He started in a hole, then tripped in it by getting off on the wrong foot, and has been trying to get his balance back ever since.

And none of this considers the consequence on our quarterback situation. We cannot… cannot afford to be back in quarterback hell.

That is a death sentence. The best we can do, if Jayden doesn’t work, is get lucky with timing with QB prospects and opportunity intersecting.

We have to do our best to make sure our offense is the best we can put together to make Jayden comfortable and give him an opportunity.

I don’t believe we’ve done that so far.

We’re on the clock for Jayden. And that is sometimes overlooked in these convos (not by you…)

It would probably be wise for them to that. If they don't pick Love, Tate, or anyone else that can help the offense, the mics around the draft even would pick up my profanity-laced ranting from 3 states away.
