I believe it. It could be a calculated risk. Basically, if they believe there are similar players in a grouping, they can trade down and get one. As Boone said, if yoi are truly targeting a specific person youbtake a strange risk trading down. I imagine it would mean there is a group of players they would find acceptable. If they have a guy or two they like at 7 but see it as highly likely they would be gone… this can make sense as a plan

I think it’s a bad idea because I don’t think Delane makes it very far if we trade. So we’d be trading back to pick someone else. But who? The blue chip talent will be gone. We’d need a stupid haul that I just don’t see being on the table

I agree, I am nowhere as versed in the draft as you all are but reading the posts it doesn’t sound like Delane is in a grouping to trade back. It is likely you would miss out and then go down a tier.

My suggestion is they decided they are fine with various other players if it comes to that. Maybe they are eager to draft a WR but think that there isn’t an obvious standout at 7. Trading back means they get another valuable pick and they get their need filled in a “good enough” way for them.

Personally, I think they are just doing their due diligence. So many dynamic situations especially at 7, it is in a place where you have a good pick but many things change quickly before you pick.

Why take him at 7 if you think that you can get him later and add picks. I guess you are saying that if he's the 100 percent no braiiner guy want but I keep saying that they don't feel like that about any of these guys saver for a couple who they think will most likely be gone anyways. The rest they see on similar levels so trade back to get someone
 
So I'm watching this video showing all of Bill's touches. I still see a #1 back with a subpar blocking line and Kliff showing little variety in play calling, with him seemingly running up the gut the majority of time.

Im not seeing this horrible vision at all that some suggest. If the line stops getting pushed around, he can have a big season. He gets hit in the backfield or at the line a lot. For him to average 4.6ypc is amazing. This is not meant in any way as means to say no to Love. Just talking about Bill.

I think this NY-Tyson stuff is overstated. I think that it's truly just based off of the timing of Tyson's workout and meeting with Schoen when in reality they were already trying to trade Lawrence before the workout and even they admitted that they had no idea that they would get a top 10 pick.

If Tyson never decided to workout or talk to Schoen, the Lawrence trade would have went down the exact same way at the exact same time but since the Tyson stuff happened at the same exact time, people are putting the 2 together but in reality, that trade has zero to do with Tyson.

I feel like he's in play for them but they are trying to get Styles and Downs or Love and Downs. They can still get a solid WR early in the 2nd round if needed. If Downs is gone, I think they go corner or lineman at 10
 
All in all, this is how I feel in the final few days. Again, this draft is crazy. A lot of guys can go anywhere. We really have no clue who this team really likes. Seems like most of the media is guessing or using their own opinion. Even the local insiders seem like they are being fed smoke.

That made me think to forget all of the extra bs and go back to the essence of what we know and believe to be true. AP and DQ said from the beginning of the off-season that they wanted to get younger, faster, and add a big play threat. We've done the first 2 and struck out On Pierce.

The other thing is that this team has showed a ton of attention to the OSU guys at the combine and everyone showing up to their pro day. They have spoken to Tate multiple times and any extra chance they can get. Jayden makes the post about him. Terry would love to have him as a protégé.

The kid interviews well. WR is our biggest weakness. It's connected to our Franchise players development. It's a premium position. Terry and Aiyuk may be gone next season. He's a big target good route runner, catches with his hands like Pickens, has great tracking skills , great blocker, has been in a busy WR room as a non first option so would have no problem easing in, being behind Terry, and maybe even Aiyuk. No diva in him.

Our biggest weakness is immediately solved. We already signed corners, RBs, Lbs Safties, and edges so we are still ok without drafting there in round one. We haven't addressed receiver at all. We still don't know how things will play out so this can easily change depending on what happens ahead of us.

I was on the Jets board earlier. A lot of their fans and media are even considering wanting Tate at 2 and getting an edge later. Anything can happen but as of right now, I feel like Tate is our guy even if Styles, Downs, and Delane are there. Maybe even Love but he's the only one I think they take over Tate that will possibly be available.

That's just my opinion cutting through all of the fake smoke from what we know and have seem. Openly wanting a big play threat, openly wanting help for Jayden, knowing a huge hole at WR, failing to get Pierce & Doubs, showing major attention to OSU, premium position, other guys at the position futures in doubt, we have already signed guys at every other position of need, and Jayden randomly endorsing Tate and no one else..

If Keim's vibe from whomever he talked is right, and he never spitballs, its not impossible for him to be wrong, no one is right 100% of the time, also like I have been saying I generally trust the vibe from the insider types that I trust like Keim, Schefter, etc the most this week, days before the draft, not a week before the draft.

But based on multiple podcasts and the article he wrote for ESPN.

I think Theinmann would make sense in a trade down in to the early-mid teens.

The more I read, the more I'm not convinced about going WR (Tate) at 7, but WR in a trade down makes sense.

I think we will see Bailey, Reese, Love, Styles all gone by 7. If we want Delane, I think he goes top 10, so stick and pick or minor trade back (maybe w NYG?)

If we trade from 7 to, say, 16 there’s a good chance none of those guys are on the board.

I don’t see Tate lasting beyond 11ish at most. Bain may be gone at 9, same with Delane.

I’m not sure trading down is a good move.

I trust that the team is thinking that way, I just don’t agree with it.

We’ll see. I don’t think we move anywhere and we stick and pick ultimately. But I think we may do some trade shenanigans with the rest of our picks.

Still holding out hope we find a way to package Payne and some pick for BTJ

I don't think their ideal scenario is trading down to 16 with the Jets. Possible? Yes. If that happens I gather they are shopping in the Lemon, Tyson, Boston, Cooper bucket. Because that's the only group they interviewed (30 visit-combine) that I can think of in that range of the draft. Maybe McCoy?

But I gather they wouldn't mind trading back a few spots and still landing I gather who think are really good players.

But Peters himself said he doesn't expect a trade back. I am guessing they stick and pick and it will be Delane. Judging by rumors, I don't think Delane makes it past KC.

2. New York Jets​

Arvell Reese, LB/Edge, Ohio State

The pick comes down to Reese vs. Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey. I believe the Jets would prefer Reese's upside even though Bailey is a more polished pass rusher right now. Reese is an interchangeable player with explosive power who has the ability to be a high-caliber starter at either linebacker or edge rusher. The Jets are in the early stages of their rebuild and searching for foundational pieces. Reese fits that vision, as he's a defender they can build a scheme around.



3. Arizona Cardinals​

Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami

Protecting the quarterback has been a constant issue for the Cardinals, who allowed 59 sacks last season (fifth most in the NFL). The Cardinals' offensive tackles also finished with the lowest run block win rate at the position last season, and Mauigoa provides an immediate plug-and-play starter on the right side. Arizona signed Elijah Wilkinson this offseason, but that shouldn't prevent it from searching for a long-term fixture at right tackle.




4. Tennessee Titans​

David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech

The Titans have to choose between finding explosive playmakers for second-year QB Cam Ward or continuing to revamp their defensive front. We're going with Option B and projecting them to take the best pass rusher in the draft. Bailey's first step is lethal, which helped him to an FBS-high 14.5 sacks and 23 tackles for loss last season. Tennessee already has All-Pro Jeffery Simmons and brought in John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson II this offseason, so adding Bailey could give the team a ferocious front four.




5. New York Giants​

Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State

John Harbaugh teams have historically had a commanding presence at middle linebacker. There hasn't been an off-ball linebacker drafted in the top five since 2019 (Devin White), but Styles is a rare linebacker prospect in a draft class that lacks true high-end options at high-leverage positions. Styles' size, instincts, movement ability and continued development make him an ideal fit in the middle of the Giants' defense.




6. Cleveland Browns​

Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State

Wide receiver and offensive tackle are the two clear, major holes on Cleveland's roster, and the Browns' brass will have to determine which position has the most depth. That could have Cleveland going for a receiver first. Taking Tate would give the Browns a major target to add to veteran wideout Jerry Jeudy and tight end Harold Fannin Jr., last year's third-round revelation. Tate is a diverse route runner with excellent hands who could be an immediate starter in new coach Todd Monken's system.




7. Washington Commanders​

Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

The Commanders need help everywhere, so I have them taking the player I feel is the best in this year's class. Love is an explosive play waiting to happen and would unlock multiple layers of the playbook that Washington couldn't access last season. He rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2025 and had 39 runs of 10 or more yards, fourth most in the FBS. Having quarterback Jayden Daniels and Love together would strike fear in NFL defenses.
