The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

There seems to be a lot of hope that the Giants take Tyson at 5, but if Tyson is a guy they covet why not wait until 10? I guess there’s a chance he’s gone then, but then pivot and take one of the outstanding players that dropped.

I have this bad feeling Love is going 4th or 5th and not much changes near the top. Though if teams are worried about the Giants taking WR or OL they may move up to 6/8/9 to get ahead of them if that’s their target area as well.

Going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Gut reaction, the trade opens the Giants up to taking Love at 5.

I think it signals that Harbaugh is going to have a lot of control of that roster, and he's hitting the re-set button. He's going to be pushing for a purge to create as much young talent as possible, and Love could be his cornerstone piece.

The only thing I can do to talk myself into something else is the idea that Harbaugh likes to build his defenses, and that he may opt to get defensive cornerstones to build around. Of course they just traded away a cornerstone, so that argument doesn't exactly have a lot of legs, but who knows. I hate to say it but I am starting to think Love is going to be in New York 7 days from now.

That was my gut, too.

A thought that had occurred to me was that with the void left behind after trading Dexter Lawrence to Cincy, could potentially make Reuben Bain a possibility for the Giants?

The NYG-CIN trade def adds intrigue to Thursday night. It also seems like there will be other moves ahead of the 7 pick.

Really all we can do is let it play out and grab the BPA which hopefully is also at a position of need. Either way we should be adding a good player.

This is largely true. Tunsil, potentially, but maybe too old to get a first.

I think we can extrapolate that to even a 2nd rounder.

Third I think we have some guys, including McLaurin (he MAY net a second).

Actually… I hope Peters has looked into if we could trade Terry for a 1/2. Not saying I’d pull the trigger, but adding two young receivers could be worth looking into.

I probably wouldn’t trade him. But he may not be here after next year.

That said, I think his contract kinda makes him hard to trade anyways so this is more of a thought experiment

Unless they want him playing odd front DE and even front DT, I don’t see the fit. They are likely looking at Woods or Banks with their second if they are retaining that pick

It's possible, anything is possible. I admit part of my gut reaction likely is fueled by my own expectation of us missing out on the good thing. Every year things happen unexpectedly, and Harbaugh has been supported by one of the better front offices in sports over the last 3 decades.. It's possible he prioritized the O-line to protect his young QB.

I think Conerly probably gets you a 1st back given he has 4 years of a rookie deal left and looked promising as a rookie tackle playing a new position. But they’d never trade him

I get Disco's point, but not many people in the NFL that play a position other than QB warrant first round picks... especially top 10 picks. First round picks are not just traded away with regularity, they're one of the most coveted things in sports.

Agree not easy to get a first rounder in a trade. A healthy Nabers, Abdul Carter, Brian Burns likely brings more draft capital than anyone on Washington aside from Jayden, and that’s NY which is a last place team.

Agreed, but the best players in the league would likely net a 1/2. And we have, essentially, none of them.

To reply to method man im not sure Conerly fetches a 1, either. Promising rookie on a rookie deal or not. But I do think he would net a 2. That said, to your point, they aren’t moving him.

But this is a thought experiment we’ve had many times. We just don’t have high end talent.

It sure would be nice to be picking 5th right now.

Vegas vs Keim. Am rooting for Vegas. But will see maybe Keim aligns with Vegas next week before the draft

Which in itself cements what myself, you, SIP and others have been jumping up and down about. Love at 7 is the move (if he's there...obviously). He's instantly in the conversation with Jayden as the most dangerous aspect of our roster.

I definitely think that it's at 10 if it's Tyson

This wouldn't help. If the Jets end up with Reese and Dallas who supposedly love Bailey trades up for him -- then lets say the Titans don't take Love, in that case its likely Styles. Then Styles is off the board for the Giants and it increases the chances they take Love.

Titans need line and WR more than anything

Not much buzz that they go WR. A littlle but not much.

The old PFF guys think they beef edge and O line more than anything but Love still in play for them.
