The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

^ That would more than likely lead some serious trade offers at 7

Assume you mean for Reese?

Standig laid this out on a podcast about this scenario.

You got the Jets supposedly locked in on Bailey. The Cards might forgo Reese because they've been screwed by taking hybrid LBs so they might not do it. And the Titans might go Love. The Giants probably wouldn't take Reese, nor the Browns.

Probably although there is nothing definite about who the others would take. Could be Love.

I bet a nickel that in 2 years, we’d wish we had Love instead of whoever we pick at 7 plus whoever we pick in the 3rd. I want Love. I’d go get him. He transforms this whole offense for the next 5 years.
If Love is there and we trade out I’m all the way out on this regime.

I'd be surprised if they trade out if Love is there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they traded down if Styles, Downs, Tate, Delane on the board or 3 of those 4.

I would be surprised if they will get a taker for a mini trade down in the top 10. If i am KC or NO, etc why would I trade up a a spot or two? I'd wait for my pick.

I do think if Reese is the one who falls to 7, maybe that's the one scenario a team in the top 10 trades up.

Agree. But I'd be slightly surprised if he's there at 7. lol, as we get closer to the draft, feels like the Love to the Titans drill has reheated. I'd feel better about our chances if the Jets liked Reese instead of Bailey but too much smoke that they are in on Bailey. The Titans supposedly dug Bailey, I don't know about Reese, again going purely on rumors-beat reporters.

it could all end up false, but some of the smoke especially about the higher picks can be on the money as the draft gets closer. Will see.

I wasn’t clear. Getting Love would be worth giving up our 3rd to move up.

Also, just saw this and haven’t seen it anywhere else. Not sure if it’s real.

Bain is listed there as a potential guy on the board. But Bain is a risk. And if he’s worth trading up for - why isn’t he worth taking?

Our FO is banking on some “dumb team” to take their pick.

And then that dumb team gets value and we get Jahan Dotson.

I know. Different FO. But I don’t understand why we are so allergic to taking great players when we can. 7 is already further back than I want to be. We should be 5.
Also, If he is worth trading up for, why didn’t he go in the top 6?

This incident happened in 2024. And no charges. And this “draft media” guy is someone I’ve never heard of.

If he is guilty of something, he should fall big time. Someone lost their life. Teams will know.

Yeah occurred in 2024 and was cleared of any charges. Unless there's hidden dirt, this shouldn't change most teams view of him

The one thing that could be BS or could be something is below at the ***

Miami EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. “was involved in a fatal traffic collision” in March 2024 and one NFL team is “concerned about multiple incidents.”
The Read Optional’s Oliver Connolly broke the tragic news. Bain was cited for careless driving following a March 2024 collision. Four passengers were in his vehicle, two of whom were transported to the hospital. One passenger, Destiny Betts, entered a coma and passed away three months later. Bain’s charge was dropped approximately two weeks before Betts’ death. Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris adds that Betts’ family could still file a civil suit. Per Connolly, multiple NFL sources “confirmed they are aware of the incident and are continuing to investigate.” ***One said that “it doesn’t feel like [Bain] has been transparent with us.” Another adds that they “are concerned about multiple incidents” and “are waiting for the other shoe.” Bain, 21, is widely regarded as one of the incoming class’ best prospects.

I assume teams have done their due diligence. Should they find that although he was cleared he was reckless and an issue from that standpoint, he should fall. Far.
