I haven’t watched him much. His stats are insanely good. His physical measurables nothing special.
 
The positional value issue is getting harder and harder to be on the side of "who cares."




If Love is great but not elite (6-10th) we save 3-6M. Same with Styles and Downs. Reese has enough pass rushing juice you can let that slide, and Bailey is obvious.

But between this, Pierce getting 29M (with offers for more), and Doubs getting 17M with incentives to 20M, even if Tate is just a "good" #2 he saves us 8-11M. If he's a "great" #2 he saves us 16-21M. If he becomes a #1, he saves us 30M/year for like 2-3 years.

I'm guessing most of these decisions get made for us via who gets picked, but man, if, say, Downs, Love, and Tate (and Delane) make it to us (the 2 OL in top 6 scenario), if we don't pick Tate, whichever of the guys we do pick pretty much has to be elite out of the gate or its gonna be hard to justify in 3 years.

Yeah. I still don’t care for the current situation.

The goal is winning the Lombardi. I think Love gets us closer to that than any of the other wide receivers in the class.

Therefore, I am taking Love.

If we had a receiver prospect who I thought was within the same hemisphere as Love, I’d care. But there isn’t.

I’d make the same argument for Styles. Though I think Styles has untapped position flexibility and he could be an edge ant times and demand huge money for his versatility anyways.

Forcing picks for cap consideration, when there is a perceived chasm in talent, is how teams are set backward.

Once Love, Styles and Reese are gone, I’m fine with following the formula. It makes sense then.

This. We had a ton of carp room left, barely spent any money last year, and generally just hasn’t been spending to the cap

And adding love to this offense would make us extremely dangerous and difficult to defend. At a minimum, we’d have Jayden, Love, Okonkwo, and Terry. Teams would struggle even more more to stop Love, when they also have to respect Jayden. And it gives us another pass catcher and a YAC guy. I’d go 12 personnel all day. We could make a killing running or passing out of that with our roster, plus Love.

And if I drafted Love, I’d really consider leaning into the running game by signing Jennings.

I think adding love has by far the biggest impact on our offense and win total than anyone we could draft this year.

Not to derail the thread but he was a terrible GM that should have been fired years early with Norv.

He was a very large reason the team basically had no appreciable talent for the better part of a decade.
 
Mansoor running the 40 today. If he runs a 4.4 (which I doubt), could move him up a lot of boards.

Not only did the Seahawks pay their WR 42M a year but they also let the SB MVP RB go to another team for a third of that.

I think people are dreaming that we are going RB if Love is there at 7. AP just got done losing trying to overpay Pierce. Then he gets a decent RB for 2M.

The sign is on the wall. They'll probably even take the #2 WR at 7 if their first choice is gone.

Why do we care about how much the market dictates, or the salary cap at this moment. I look at Barkley, Gibbs, Robinson, McCaffrey, Henry, and it’s clear that these elite RB’s provide a ton of impact for their teams, especially if they are also passing game weapons. We NEED blue chip impact players. RB, safety and LB seem like where we are most likely to find that in this draft. I’m not drafting what looks like a high end WR2 over a likely top 5 RB in the league.
 
I'm honestly hoping none of Love, Reese, Bailey, Styles, Downs, or Tate participate in their pro days this week. At pick 7 I'm confident we will get a good or great player, but we are precariously close to a drop off in talent. If even one of them participates and gets an ACL..... It could be disastrous for us.

If we can get 10 yard split times too that would help a lot. I feel like he lacks the catch up juice if he takes a slow step following a WR's break.

I previously had his draft range, in a normal average draft, of around #20's-40's. I've upgraded that to just the #20's-30's, so mostly the back third of the 1st round...in an average draft. In this draft his value is higher, it's the Teens.

I think it's just that this draft class is awkward and the rest of the CB class is noticeably worse (or in McCoy's case injured). So it's pushing up Delane. In fairness that's also happening with Love, but the RB-to-CB relationship here isn't 1-to-1 as Love is a special talent that is not found in most draft classes.

I need to see Downs participate for me to think he's worth anywhere near where he's projected. We also need to firmly squash the injury rumors from the Combine.

The rest I'm with you, I don't think there's much to gain by having them perform.

I don’t know. Just ran a 4.38. And is sticky as hell in coverage. He didn’t allow a single TD this season, didn’t allow more than 1 reception to any receiver he faced, and had more PBU’s than 1st downs allowed. If he’s that sticky and backed it up with a good time, he’s pretty high up on my list.

Yeah I agree, he’s backing up an impressive season with that time.
