The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Do you think either will? With the FA RB and WR being what it is I am doubtful
I think it’s entirely possible. Lots can happen.

I’d give up the 3rd to move to the 4th pic and take Love. By the chart, it’s a mild overpay. I think he would take the offense over the top and it’s worth it. We already built up the defense.

It is so hard for a defense to deal with a team with a great RB, good TE, and a solid WR1.

We are in tough shape if Tate and Love are gone and Fano has not been taken.

If Tate and Love have been taken and the Browns take Fano, it means Reese or Bailey has fallen to us. You run up to the podium and take one of those two

If agree if receiver wasn’t pretty bare. Guys like Elijah Sarratt may be there and I think he can be a day one contributor.

But that is tempting.

I think we have to come away with Love. Or Tate. It’s almost essential at this point.

I think AP is trying to put us in the best position possible to take the BPA during the draft and not be dependent on a specific position.

Evidently we have the cap room to cut some lower salaried players that don't cut it during training camp

Except we’ve kinda just narrowed down or draft based on our FA moves.

As of this moment it has to be receiver or running back.

For now, see my edits above

Are we 100% sure Edge is off the table at 7, despite the flurry of activity at that spot in FA? Both Chaisson and Omenihu are on 1 year deals, and after ‘26, Armstrong and Wise expire as well. I don’t think it is a lock that we are going offense with our first pick, and people shouldn’t freak out if they elect to address the defensive front.

Not 100% but I think WR and RB top the list. Things can change on a FA signing though if we sign White or Jennings.

I think we still sign Rashad White and Jennings. Or something comparable. And Aiyuk eventually. I don’t think we are going into the draft with massive holes on offense. If you ignore G and C that is. We might lack youth going into the draft, but I doubt we lack a passable number 2 receiver.

IMO, except for a tackle, I don’t think any of the top guys are off the table at 7, including IOL (depending on how the FO rates them of course). Luvu’s on his last year (so Reese or Styles are great options), we could use another quality safety (Downs). Considering we tried to sign Woolen, I think corner’s a possibility as well. With that said, as we stand now, I’m hoping Love or Tate are there (I’m kind of doubting it though).

The Love vs Tate debate is one I go back and forth on. Positional value, maybe Terry’s last year, JCM’s potential, Love having no red flags (crazy high floor and ceiling), which one helps Jayden more, it’s easier to find quality running backs, backs are more likely to hit the ground running (no pun intended), which one is more likely to get picked before 7, and so on. At this moment, it’s Love - take the best player and work it out from there.

If Love is gone and Tate and Reese are there who do we take? Chaisson was just a one year signing so Reese would be very tempting

Very good point about edge being a future need. However I've never changed positions this late in the process before but I'm hoping for Love. I look at the Niners and realize that McCaffery has a far greater impact on the game than any of their back 7 players. As for pass rushers the miss rate on top 10 picks is far greater than the miss rate on a top 10 RB. They can't miss on this pick.

McShay's podcast, yestewrday, said some is based on intel.

Bailey and Reese go in some form 2nd and 3rd.

Tennessee goes either Love or Tate, thinks probably Love

Giants go Styles or Downs, probabaly Styles, maybe Love if he falls

Browns O line.

Washington: Tate or Love if he falls
