I would not be surprised if he did. I mean, Daniel Jones was not supposed to be that guy either. He was a relative scrub.

No argument there. But this feels like the draft where Pickens was the first QB taken at like 20 to the Steelers.

There are drafts where the talent just isn’t there, and the QBs drop.

But you never know. It just takes one dummy to fall in love with a guy and the get way over-drafted.

The other thing is there aren’t THAT many teams looking for QBs. Dolphins, Raiders, Browns, Steelers, Cardinals. Maybe a few others, I’m sure I’m forgetting a team or two. There are some teams like the Rams that need a guy to replace an old guy.

But the need is less than it was a few years ago mostly because it looks like Williams, Daniels, Maye and Nix all hit from the same draft, and there is still a chance for Penix. Add that to the good veteran list + teams that drafted a QB in the last 3 seasons, and the QB situation is probably more settled now than it has been in a while.

I don’t believe in McCarthy, so I think that’s a bust and they’re going to be looking again soon. But probably not this year.
 
I think the one trade that could happen is KC to 7 for Love. Everything else feels like wishcasting. And even then it's probably for like, a 3rd or something. I doubt you could force them to part with their 2nd to move up 2 spots for an RB. But if we are going to pick Love unless they move up for him, I could see them being convinced to.

KC would have to really be desperate to drop a first and a second to move up two spots though, I'd take it for sure. We need all the picks we can get.
 
We've all been to clinics/conferences where the people talking want to make it sound like they have the answer to everything. Anything is possible with the right people guiding it.

But it is never that simple.

I agree, KC didn't get to whether they were always picking late in the first round and having to deal with a QB taking large cap hits by being reckless. They are disciplined. Could you get a third rounder to move up two spots if there is a player they want and they are afraid of losing him to another team? Probably. Could you get a second? Very unlikely. Could you get a second and thrid to move up two spots? Extremely unlikely.

I am going to push back on this a little. I think 6'2 is a better height than 6'5 cause it gives you natural leverage. If you are so short like 5'8 it kind of makes it hard to hit the strike zone of the other persons chest, 6'2 is a nice height. Not short enough to give you any real disadvantage and it will give you a bit of an advantage when it comes to leverage. Helps with power in pass rushing and in run defense.

Small hands affect grip strength a bit, but punch strength and violence along with hand placement is like 95% of the battle for a pass rusher. For an O-Lineman it matter more as grip strength is pretty important. For a pass rusher on push pull move or something like that grip strength is helpful, but its not near as important as it is for O-Lineman.

If 6’2” was better than 6’5” then the NFL would be full of 6’2” edge players. There are way more 6’2” humans on the planet than 6’5” humans, but somehow, edge rushers tend to be tall/long? It’s not coincidence. I don’t necessarily disagree that for Bain in particular, with his style of play, that leverage is important.

In a different note, looking at Sonny Styles, his combine reminds me a bit of Isaiah Simmons, but does the prospect remind anyone else of Brian Urlacher? Super sized ex safety. Very athletic. Physical. Built to excel in coverage but also, has the chops to excel against the run?

I think taller players tend have more length (longer arms) but arm length being even, I think 6'2 in better than 6'5. You also have a longer frame to add weight. But you are making yourself a bigger target for the O-Lineman and being taller and you lose leverage.

Tip passes. Blocking throwing lanes. Even if they don't get to the QB. So he's got both the combination of short arms and he's shorter height wise than the typical edge. It's another tool in the tool belt for edge rushers.

I'd say Urlacher is a top ceilling for Styles, Simmons is the worst case scenario.

Mid may be something like Leighton Vander Esch?

Did the same thing in 2019 against Miami and lost out on the #1 pick and the chance to draft Joe Burrow in April 2020.
