It feels to me like they want to go Tate or Bailey at 7 or trade back.

I anticipate we willl already have at least one Edge/DE and potential WR2 signed via FA when we reach the draft...or perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

With 3 wrs and 2 edges on the roster (I think), I believe it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll have at least two of each signed, a starting caliber player and a rotational guy at each spot, and then perhaps camp competition bodies as well. Now, with that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re feeling a bit underwhelmed by the additions. I’m picturing something like Aiyuk, Dyami and Burks, and Chubb, Jacob Martin and Drake Jackson. Essentially holding serve from last offseason (though with a bit more potential), but slightly improved depth, leaving the draft fairly open.

Yeah I am with you but would rather replace your Chubb and Dyami for a Doubs or Jenning type WR and Ossai or of course a Oweh type
 
I don’t mind second tier guys. WIth so many holes to fill we can’t get a stud at every position. But no more old guys please!!
 
Hopefully they’re talking to everybody who’s projected in the top 10. But I’ve been warming up to Styles. Been so long since we had a linebacker who was good in coverage. And it sounds like he could step in for Bobby Wagner as the “QB of the Defense“. I think I like him better than Reese for us.
 
Unless the player is a guy like TJ Watt coming out from a LB position in college to play edge in the NFL, taking a traditional linebacker in the top 10 is not a value pick.

Running back and linebacker are the most readily available positions to fill in free agency and via trade.

You see solid players at these positions that often don't receive a 5th year option just because teams figure that they can get someone cheaper who can do the job.

Sure but everybody understands that and yet he is rated as high as he is anyway. Same goes for Love.
 
Depending on what is done in FA and who is else is on the board, I would be OK w Styles. He is a 3 down LB, his skill set would also suggest that he may be a good blitzer.
 
I am not sure either the Giants or Browns go Edge though. If the Edges are gone by #7 I think there is a real possibility they are gone by #5 too. But if that did happen we would still have Tate on the board as an option.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Bain, Bailey, Reese, Mendoza, Tate are all gone.

Would leave us at least with two of Love, Styles and Downs.

That's pretty reasonable with one of the OL making up the top 6. With all the Tyson questions I'd almost guarantee Tate doesn't reach 7

I definitely like Styles more than Reese (and the idea that the whole coaching staff could get wiped out scares me less with Styles than with Reese, who feels like a Swiss army player who you need to have a “plan” for)

But I prefer him as a trade back option without doubt. Not so much at 7 unless things go very wrong
