The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I trust Tankathon and have for years.

No changes from the early games. Still #7.

Winning the meaningless Giants game in all likelihood cost us #2 overall.
DQ needed that win very, very badly. Eight losses in a row is horrible, nine........That one win was a pause in what would've likely been 12 losses in a row.

Ok they can pick at worse 7 so if Quinn gets his dream win in Philly, we will see them in 2 weeks odd bravado stuff from him its not the end of the world.

But if they lose. We got as many as 5 teams that can be leapfrogged.

Giants - Dallas -- Giants win. Only if the Giants beat the Raiders today. If the Raiders win today, we advance 1 game as to SOS for us. Or if the Raiders win today, then a Raiders win against the Chiefs, would push Washington to pick ahead of the Raiders.
Titans -- Jags -- Titans win. But if the Jags win it does advance 1 game as to SOS for us versus the Browns. By advance meaning weaken SOS which is what we want
Browns -- Cincy. Browns win. But if Cincy wins, it strengthens the Browns SOS by 2 games so helps us with a tiebreaker against them
Jets -- Bills. Jets win.
Cards -- Rams. Cards win.

Now if everything goes against us, and its purely a SOS war with the Browns. The two SOS are close right now.

Monday night we want the Rams to beat the Falcons -- swing of 1 game SOS

Next Sunday
We want the 49ers to beat Seattle. Swing of 2 games SOS
We want the Pats to beat Miami. Swing of 1 game SOS

And as I mentioned we want the Titans to win and the Browns to win. But if they don't it helps tiebreaker SOS with the Browns. 1 game for the Titans game and 2 for the Bengals one.

Bills are such a choking team.

If there are basic lesson to me watching the Eagles game.

A. Barkley -- its not that he's just good but those game breaking runs are brutal for the opposition. Love?

B. Jalen Carter. Just one dominant players makes such a difference.

Watching both games on red zone, as for the draft.

A. All those David Bailey is too small comments. He's not. Plenty of successful pass rushers at his size or close enough: Brian Burns, Crosby, Parsons. Look at the season James Pearce is having as a rookie.

B. Barkley is such a game changer. I know RB yawn. But an elite RB isn't yawn. Love?

Two of those guys are on teams vying for the first pick in the draft. And neither one of them is any good against the run either. Parsons is nothing special against the run as well. Just saying. And as far as Crosby goes did you see him throw his team under the bus today? Posting vids playing BBall after your team puts you on IR. :)

re Jalen Carter. I agree, Even though a DT is not a high profile position, he is "elite." Teams would be wise to scheme around elite or true blue chippers. If we end up picking at #6 or 7, I'm thinking that Downs may be an elite player dropping to us bc he plays S. I would be all about that. Do you feel there might be any other elite players hanging around pick #7?

Does Crosby causing a fit a function of him being 250 pounds and change? Don't see the relevance. Ditto what place these teams are. You want big. Dexter Lawrence is as big as it gets at DT, monster player, but considering the Giants season has gone south its proof that you don't want bigger DTs.

I know we disagree. Sticking with Redskins references, I don't want a young run stuffing Philip Daniels with a top ten pick, that's someone you take later in the draft. We need an Andre Carter much more than a Philip Daniels.

Maybe. Love to me is elite.

Bailey maybe. I want to see if he shows up inb the combine as the athletic freak some say he is.

I can be talked into Bain. I love watching him. But if his arms measure at 30 and change, its just hard for me to see it. So am mixed.

I think Tate is borderline elite. But also for him, i want to see what he runs. If he runs 4.6 or worse, I think he's likely just short of that.

Tyson I go back and forth on, haven't decided.

I just threw in the Crosby thing for a laugh. Crosby is actually serviceable against the run. I shouldnt have said not any good. My thought is there is no Maxx Crosby in this draft though. As far as effort goes Bain is probably the closest. But his measurables scare me big time. I am starting to come around to the idea of Love at 6 or 7. Especially if we can imrove the front 7 in free agency.

I like Bailey too but I'd be happy with a trade down and get Howell from Texas A&M.

My issue with Howell is same as Bain, length. But like Bain he's a blast to watch, quick first step, great bend. Would I want to trade down to go get him -- at the moment nope but still digesting prospects so lol my opinion might change

Right now if I am trading down my targets are Sonny Styles or Lemon.

Elite to me in this draft is Tyson, Tate and McCoy. Unfortunately two of those guys have injury histories that are scary. Downs is a hell of a player. But I am not sure about his athleticism. I cant wait to see how he tests. If he is a sub 4.4 guy I am all in on him.

True and while that is a small bit of a red flag, he did register sacks against other notable teams such as Mississippi State, LSU, Missouri, and South Carolina. I'll agree with Styles and Lemon and add Boston to the list.

Though I rarely watch games anymore it boggles my mind at the lack of weapons Allen has. They need at least 2 starting caliber WR's.
Yeah they have totally failed him, they have not been able to put together a complete team around him. They did get him 2 really good TE's and an excellent RB but the receivers are a yawn.

They tried with Coleman. But that appears to be a miss.
