1st or 3rd agree. But also sign a FA or two.

I hate going into the draft with needs. To Peters credit unlike Ron he's not a need based drafter from what I can tell. But that makes FA even more important because Peters strikes me someone who will for example take a corner over an edge if that corner is higher on his board.

They did well last draft without trading down which is interesting considering they had opportunites to trade down. And considering Conerly and Amos are looking to be good picks, wonder if they stick with that approach of quality > quantity.

I kept the 2nd round in my response because I am okay with a small trade down . (prior draft history does not matter, we failed miserably at staying pat, trading down and trading up) but we agree multiple Edge/ends and WR's are needed

You've referenced him throughout the thread for a while and I had no clue who this player was or how good he is having not looked at the S class yet. I'm sold. He'd be a great fit. He seems like one of those rare players that just loves the game and strives to get better all the time.

Depends to me on who is there. If they think they can trade down and stay in the range of who they deem potential elite players, and yeah do it, if you can.

If they think they are going to the next tier with a trade down, then I wouldn't trade down.

It's part of the reason why IMO it will be helpful to move up to lets say 5 versus staying at 7. At 7 there is a chance trade down takes them out of that elite potential player range.

Lets say theortically top 6 players are

Mendoza
Moore (he might not even come out)
Reese
We get lucky an Fano or the U M tackle go
Bailey
Tate

Ok, and this is to me best case scenario because a tackle might not go top 6 and Moore might not come out.

So we got: Downs, Love, Tyson, some (not me) say Bain

So based on that if they see it similar to how I do right now, they can trade down to 9 maybe 10.

But lets say Moore doesn't come out and none of the tackles go.

Reese
Bailey
Tate
Downs
Love

Who is left?

And look I think because of positional value Downs or Love likely will be there at 7. But if you believe in a drop off after those prospects, you can't drop much.

This team is, realistically, a middle of the road team. But, as much as I think AP and DQ deserve some blame this year… they also deserve the credit from last year. You cannot judge this team on one transcendent season and one top 10 awful season.

But we have to get younger.

And you do that through… the Draft.

We need playmakers and we lack picks.

Our focus should be drafting the highest player on our board. If there is a trade down that allows us to do that, that is the route we need to take. Otherwise, we need to improve the roster and drop its median age.

If we transform this roster from oldest to one of the younger ones it likely buys AP and DQ another year, too.

But we need to get an edge rush, a young, quality receiver, a true every down back that is well rounded.

I see a lot of clamoring for CB and I think we can upgrade there. But our DBs are getting cooked because we have a non-existent pass rush.

We need a safety, too. And if Downs is the top player on our board then we should take him

This offseason is the pivot point one way or the other for this FO.

They shouldn’t be judged until we see next season play out. But it’s fair to hold them accountable.

Agree with almost all of it. Peters and Quinn did a good job last year, this year not so much but still injuries was the primary plot line.

They deserve another off season-season to rebound and IMO its not even debateable. But next year is the determining factor as to the future one way or another.

I agree with edge and Wr being the code red spots. Need a safety, agree.

My only disagreement is to me CB > RB. I think their running backs are fine. Still, i'd make an exception for a Jeremiyah Love because I just want a special elite player regardless of position.
 
My gut is they add a RB but not Breece Hall or Jeremiyah Love albiet I'd love either one.

I'd bet big that the idea of its all hands on deck on defense. To me last off season the obvious thing to do is hey they have a franchise QB, protect him. IMO they needed to do more than just that. But they attacked that aggressively. I am expecting the same thing this off season for the defense but with an emphasis on the D line.

I think it ends up this guy added at RB.

They need a pass catching RB who is also a good blocker. That's his rep. You add his relationship with Jayden. And lol likely fits Peters Wallmart approach to FA. Seems like its inevitable.



 
skinsinparadise i agree. I think RB is a need but only if it’s an elite guy. Hall, Love fit that bill. Otherwise I agree, I’d look for CB upgrades.
 
I am not sure that Merritt is not a future starter but I agree he is still raw and would benefit from a tandem with a veteran back that has proven receiving and blocking skills.
 
Cleveland on top of Steelers 10-0. See if it holds.
Cleveland D is pretty good, full of young draft picks. Would kill to have even an average defense here.

Tennessee beating NO 13-0, also good if it holds.

4 wins. We would jump Tennessee, Cleveland would probably stay ahead depending on how SOS adjusts.
