The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

No, he specifically mentioned pass rushers in FA and the draft.
Yes and full blown emphasis on offensive explosive weapons through the draft mentioned way before anything else. I was taken back by that as I am higher on Edge through the first pick.

I dont care who they take i just want the guy who gives us the best chance at truly elite.
Im tired of hearing positional value or luxury pick, that's all I've heard every draft for the last 25 years and we've been completely starved of household names with the exception of a couple flash in the pan years from electric rookie quarterbacks, and yes I know the book isn't written on jayden and I'm praying he comes back strong year 3.

If i had to pick the guy i think gives us the best chance at getting a household name I'd say its love and thats the way my desire is leaning but if the next chase, Jefferson, garret or watt are out there I'm fine with that too.

Just please please get us someone that collinsworth can fawn over, preferably someone who goes top 5 in fantasy drafts every year but if not a defender who's name i think is "guess who" because that's all I ever hear on gamedays.

As pathetic as the probowl is it'd be nice to flip it on and see someone other than our punter.

I still think Bailey is going to wind up going to Tennessee. I could also see them going Love. They need a lot. They are going to take difference makers if they have any sort of plan. Those are two of the biggest in this class:

He didn’t do much the final games but let’s hope the Arvell Reese hype stays high

Yeah great workouts would keep Reese up high

Mocks seem to love Reese to Tennessee... which probably means someone got some intel from the Titans.

But still...

I can see them not going receiver, I'm not personally of the opinion that any of the receivers are worthy of a top 10 selection. But why wouldn't you go for either:

1) Help for Ward or 2) QB Pressure or even 3) Protecting the QB

In those instances, the only viable solutions I see are:

Love
Fano/Mauinoga
Bailey

Reese is an off ball linebacker. He just doesn't make sense to me there. Of course, he can move around and pressure, too. But... why try to force it?

Oh well. I'm not them I guess and we will see.

I'm thrilled if the Titans go either RB or OT. If the top 2 are QBs, Love goes 3, and you get someone else selecting Reese or OT before us, then at least one of Tyson/Tate/Bailey falls in our laps.

Then we'll select Downs anyway.

It's like asking me with an 80s reference would I want to date Christine Brinkley or Cindy Crawford, I'd b e giddy either way.

But yeah not sure I got that same impression where Peters went to edge when asked about addressing needs.

Sorry, but Christie Brinkley all the way. While I would let Cindy eat crackers in bed, Christie stole my heart many years ago.........................just don't tell my wife.

Agree. Get an elite guy.

Some thought I was a whiner for bitching over the years for them taking Daron Payne over Derwin James. The pushback was Payne's durability and his splash plays were great.

The Payne over Derwin pick is so this team. Derwin is an All Pro star. Payne's superior durability doesn't offset that he's another in a series of solid-good players. We don't major in rock star players. We major in solid.

Yup, I just dont want to end up with tyree wilson over bijan Robinson because we're too afraid its a luxury pick.

Determine who's the most likely to be a superstar and take him position be damned.

You are singing my song. Is there a team worse at finding elite or even great players. What do we strike like every 15 years with one. It's an underrated reason why this team has stunk.

Listening to sports talk radio here in PHX. Ron Wolfley (remember him from the STL Cards and of course Tecmo Bowl?) is one half of the lunch hour show. He wants Stefanski as HC in AZ. He also wants the Cardinals to stay put at #3 and select....a "wardaddy guard" who can "change the game". I really hope he has some input! :ROFLMAO:

Well Francis Mauigoa is a bit like Will Campbell last year. He is a first round Tackle prospect, who probably has his highest upside at Guard and he'll be available at 3. Since Tackles are so much harder to find than Guards teams will usually keep a guy who is good at Tackle who is say a top 32 tackle over putting him at Guard where he could be like a top 16 Guard.

They need OL help badly. Not sure I would pass on the top tackle in the draft for a RB. Bu they might.

Very true. I've not looked at OL yet but supposedly the IOL group is strong. I just think a player like Love makes Ward's life a lot easier and ditto that rationale for JD for myself.

I am not even sure Tate is the best WR our team. Tyson to me is by far the best WR in this draft.
I'm from AZ and love Tyson . . . i wouldn't touch em! He is going to play maybe 12 games a year at best in the NFL. If he's touched, he goes down and if he goes down, its a 50/50 if he will get back up without something injured.
