The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Two things....for one in my post from this morning about Love....I had based that on watching his USC and Pitt games from 2025. Just finished watching the Arkansas game, and that relieves my concerns a bit. He showed some strong unning toughness and some catches that were more than just screens. Great game by him.

That said, putting together what I am reading, my best guess at the team's current board:
Bailey
Reese
Tate - I think people here underrate how valuable he is perceived as
Love
Styles
Downs
Delane

Note this is not my personal preference board which would be more like:

Everyone has their own board with their own reasoning or grading.

I am not sure there is a wrong answer out of all of these players.

If we stick at 7 and Tate is on the board I can't seeing them pass. We are in dire need of a WR. If they do have Aiyuk or Jennings before the draft, then I'd say they hold off on WR at 7

My thoughts are… is this guy a Dallas fan? He must be dreaming about that blue star if he thinks Arizona will move down to 12 just for a late third round pick.

Also… It’s been stated more than once by AP that he likes long edge rushers with speed. Even KDawg who loves Bain doesn’t think he would be a good fit here. Doesn’t feel like this guy has done his homework, at least not on our team.

Of course I suppose it could all be a lie and they are just saying that stuff so Bain falls to seven.

Feldman covers colllege football, famous for the Feldman freaks article he does twice a year -- but I agree that Dallas deal is ridiculous.

As far as Bain goes, the draft media-PFF -- loves the guy. Seems like its them versus some NFL scouts. Got no idea if Washington scouts like him or not but judging by what McShay and Brugler learned Bain is polarizing in NFL circles -- so not sure of course where this team falls on that spectrum.

That Dallas pick is close enough to be basically the first pick in the 4th round. They probably can't even move up to our spot for that, let alone up to 3

Washington IMO is not going to sign Jennings. Peters knows more about him than any other GM in the league outside of San Francisco front office and there have been zero discussions to date. It's not like he came in for a visit and then we couldn't agree on money and kept talking as he visited other teams.

The more I read about the medical issues the less I am inclined to see Downs at #7 for us.

This team has a couple of glaring needs and WR is given the investment in Daniels probably the #1 spot for this team to upgrade.

Terry was on this team in 2024 when Peters/Harris took over. We have done little to provide for a future at this position to date in either free agency in the draft. It's been patchwork BS all the way.

I think 2026 needs to be the year we lock this down and bring in a building block to pair with Daniels and Okonkwo and start to build that chemistry that allows the offense to take off over the next couple of years.

Whatever his status, you can't count on Aiyuk to be here long-term even if SF releases him. He's a guy with an injury history to leg/knee and is already 28 years old.

Given his age even a good season here puts Peters in the position of once again looking at a 29 year old receiver and wondering how much money to give him in an extension.

And then we are likely back in the free agent and draft bin for 2027 for a prime wideout.

Let's get this locked down now.

According to Keim's podcasts, they had some interest and poked around as to Jennings among other teams -- but looks like he's asking for a big payday and they and other teams have balked at it, too.

Last year apparently he wanted over 20 million a year and that's carried over.

Usually the bigger players in FA don't go for visits, at least not quite yet. I don't think Jennings has visited any team, yet.

I mean, I feel like that makes it even worse, the JSCs are a powerhouse little team but that means the DL coach is comparing Bain to 4-5 year-olds.
