They did that pretty consistently, and sometimes got a bit of pressure with just 4 or 5 I think. If they can replicate that in PHI, their chances skyrocket.

I don't know. I think the Eagles are a level below the Lions and certainly more on the verge of global dysfunction this year. We had to play our best game against the Lions. We just beat the Eagles with a million turnovers, and played them close in the first game, while starting BSJ.

And Quinyon Mitchell is hurt. And Jalen is hurt.

I'm not saying this is a gimme. But, we can stand toe to toe with the Eagles. IF, we can reasonable contain Barkley. If we can hold Barkley to a good game, instead of a great one, I love our chances.

My euphoria of the recently unprecedented upset of the #1 Lions only lasted 20 hours…

This fleeting euphoria was replaced with worry and dread once I learned the Eagles had won.

You can’t take the 30 years of suck and torture out of us fans quickly …. Winning cures all and we’re getting there

I think you are underrating the Eagles game. We beat the Eagles with a million turnovers but keep in mind there was a drop by Devonta Smith that would have likely sealed the L. As with any game, there are numerous "Could've" happened so I am NOT taking away the W (that would be stupid talk), I am just saying we should be realistic in our analysis.

I think this Eagles team is much better than the Lions in these important ways:
- Eagles D is far superior to Lions D right now. Lions D had a lot of significant injuries. Credit to Dan Campbell for not making it an excuse when I heard him talk, but honestly, it was a big factor in their defense. Eagles Mitchell has a shoulder injury, it may not be so serious, not sure. However, they have quite a few top-tier CBs.
- Eagles O vs Lions O, to me, this is generally a wash with one exception. I do take Hurts over Goff any day. Hurts athleticism combined with Barkley is a huge matchup problem for defenses. It gives them 2 major threats out of the backfield and sets up play-action to be a complete killer. There is a huge difference with a gimpy Hurts - but I don't know yet how gimpy he will be. I am sure they will pump him full of painkillers. Who knows. I also think the Eagles will watch a lot of film and see what they can do. They were reading our running plays in the last game, it looked pretty clear; however, these last two games, we had formations and runs that looked rarely used. That is going to be critical, I believe.

I think it's going to be really tough - I agree with you, holding Barkley to good and not great at least is definitely the start of success. Still have to be able to contain Brown and Smith who are good receivers. There's more than one weapon on O, and that D did get 5 turnovers last time - saying we won with 5... I mean, getting 5 is not so great for us. It's not a game we will usually win! So, it's a credit and it's great we won, but we can't look at that game as a blinding success.

That's a tough D that was ready in both games we played. Even in crunch time, fourth quarter, we had an INT. The NEXT drive, we put it together. It won't play out that way all of the time.

We can definitely win this game (this team can clearly win ANY game, they are not outmatched at this point against anyone) but it's going to be a tough one. Looking forward to the whole nerve-wracking experience!

I'm married to an eagles fan, with a full set of Philly in-laws. There is no "house money" feeling in this guy.

If the Eagles are fully healthy and going full speed, *this* Commanders team still has a chance to win. They ARE definitely capable of beating any team at any time.

A lot will depend on what the coaches come up with. In my mind, the "great equalizer" for this team (and honestly, for most teams in this era of football) is coaching and preparation. In this postseason, the Commanders have looked like one of the best prepared teams in the league. I am talking about penalties at key times, I am talking about dealing with road pressure, I am talking about playcalling at critical times; these past two weeks, the coaches have truly done a great job in my opinion.

One major concern I have is this ref-crew taking them out of their momentum. Sometimes, it's a really small thing - a false-start call on a first-down. Now, the OL has that hesitation to not get called, now the DL can get a jump. These are small things that don't show up on the stat sheet as a big deal... one false-start, right? However, if it happens at certain times in the games, OR it affects the way the OL plays at critical positions (say, Biadasz or Scott get called, and now Jalen can get a bit of a jump), yes that can absolutely make a difference. I really, really don't want the refs to decide the games, but in 2024/2025 I see them having bigger effects more often than not. It stinks. "Stickler-ref crews" in my mind, do a lot more damage to the game than not, and my understanding is this group may end up falling into that category.

Personnel wise, the Eagles have some really good players all around, that is definitely true. They match up really well on our offense; very few teams do. One of the reasons for that is because we get production down to WR3/4 at times thanks to Jayden and a really good scheme that he can execute; there just aren't that many teams who can cover that much of the field effectively, but the Eagles can. All that said, again - *this* Commanders team has a chance. A lot will depend on the coaches, and what they can figure out. I am guessing there will be a big dependence on JD; I hope he is up to the 60-minute challenge!
 
I could be wrong but I am definitely more confident this week than last.

Our offense more than likely won't be even close to as productive but making a couple 4th downs and turning them into TDs is definitely a theme that is working every week. JD is making it happen at a record rate. No defense, even the Eagles defense, with 5 turnovers and fewer injuries could stop this QB.

Also the Eagles QB is playing pretty bad already and now he's probably going to be limited with a jacked up leg and 0 threat to run.

Just stop Barkley like they did in the second half of the last game and this one should be a win. Put a couple dudes on Carter and run hurry up in the first quarter. Get Mitchell planted on the ground a couple times and see how that shoulder is doing.

If I was going to betting websites I'd definitely put 100 or more on this team.

I expect Philly to give the ball to Barkley until we stop it. We’ve demonstrated we can’t stop it.

Of course - I expected Detroit to give the ball to Gibbs until we stopped it, and that we couldn’t and they decided to try something else. So. We’ll see.

Daniels is starting to scare OCs like Mahomes used to and they go pass happy early in games. They are actually out-Mahomsing the Chiefs by going for it on 4th down most of the time.

Siriani also has fell victim to giving up the run in the past. Hopefully Kellen Moore does the same, or Siriani tells him to.

I'm only really worried if we start turning the ball over like in the last eagles game but that hasn't happened in a while.

That's not the case.

If I remember the stats correctly, Barkley had 111 yards in the first quarter. Most of that on one big run.

The remaining three quarters, he only had 39 yards rushing.

He can be stopped.

So, snapshot look as you gameplan for Barkley. What worked and what didn't work. 1st game with those factors put in place...1st half - 15-56 yds. 2nd game, with those factors...2nd half 16-27yds.

I would argue that the 2nd half stats with the 2nd game are when they were focused on getting him the ball and they sure as hell controlled TOP. We clearly figured something out with that.

Now, obviously this game is completely different, but the strategy and concepts are in place to stop him. Yes, he could still have explosive plays and Lord knows he can do that at any moment. But knowledge creates confidence and aggressive behavior in execution. One thing we know DQ can do is get our guys to step up to the winning moments in a game and I suspect we'll have about 25-30 of those this week.

Here we go.

I was stressing long after Zane missed that 47yd domed chip shot on Sunday still up 2 scores.

Absolutely we can win... its football. Crazy shit happens and no one can come close to predicting the series of events that will transpire Sunday in the first half. On that note, I would love will boldly predict a Sainristil pick 6 on the eagles first drive.

I heard on a broadcast last night that Jon Allen didn’t play in either Eagles game, and that he’s been feasting in the past two playoff games.

Hopefully JA will help in our drive to keep Saquon under control… or manageable at least.

Jon wanna eat! He want to go to Super Bowl!
