With the 2024 NFL season now in the rearview…what are your thoughts, hopes, dreams, aspirations, and most importantly predictions for the Washington Commanders 2025 season?

Where does the team go from here?
 
We had a lot of close call games last year, not sure we have the 2025 we want to have if that needs to happen again with the schedule we're going to get. I think the Vikings under Cousins had a year like that in 2019(could be wrong here) and then back to reality the next year. There's what I'd like to see and what I think reality looks like, we're still building, we need some solid FA signings (don't need big bucks but contributors) and we've got to focus on the O line and get us a pass rusher for the future. I know the defensive backfield is a concern but DB's look brilliant when the opposing QB is sitting on his ass.

I live in ATL and listen to sports talk radio. Everyone wants Kirk-Gonna-Kirk gone. Lately they've been ranting about how he absolutely LIED about injuries. Dude preaches in the locker room, which lost him Stephon Diggs in Minny. He's a liar, straight up.
So we'll be up against Penix this upcoming season. Falcons just don't know wtf to do with that massive contract.
 
I think if we didn't fumble away the Championship game, we would have won our fourth Super Bowl yesterday. Now, it wouldn't have been the same game because we don't pressure as well and we don't cover as well, but the Chiefs were ripe for a loss.

My other truth is, I think we have a better roster than we think we do. We need upgrades and better depth (who doesn't) but I think the game against the Lions and Tampa Bay represented us better than the one against the Eagles.

I am not sure if people are going to subscribe to this, but I actually think the TB Offense is scarier than the Philly Offense.

The difference was the defense in the NFCCG and the Super Bowl, plus the Hochuhelp. Yes, they could have had a chance without Hochuhelp (even with turnovers), and that's typically all they needed all year. It's too bad, and if I had access to film and rights, I would post a video of the calls at critical times that affected that game. I was thinking, the other thing that needs a spotlight is Jalen Carter. He needs to be labeled as the next "Suh" and NOT the next "Donald." Way more similar to Suh.

Five turnovers sealed the deal. Who knows what would've happened without those?
 
Yeah, I agree. I think all season we rose to meet the moment, but our nerves finally got the best of us in the Championship Game. You could tell on the very first kickoff that we bobbled, fumbled, and recovered. All game, we were just tight and it resulted in mistakes. Eagles also made the plays (as did the refs) but we lost that game almost as much as Philly won it.
 
Well, one thing yesterday taught us is that the Eagles have the right formula for building a team. The Trenches. Obviously, being in the same division puts a bit more on it, but NFL wise, the team who can move the LOS on either side of the ball, will win the key games. Of course, we here know this because you don't have to explain that point to the home of the HOGS.

AP knows this. Let the fun begin.

Do you think Quinn's NFCCG pregame comments during which he said he wanted his team to play "like they were playing for rent money" made the team more nervous than usual? My understanding is that all during the season he was more telling the team to "have fun" but shifted his tactic for the NFCCG. It could've contributed to "tight" play.

I actually think CRod would have run more effectively against the Eagles.
It really burned me when McNichols fumbled; the word was, CRod could not see the field because McNichols can play special teams. Er, if you need someone to fumble on a kick return, call me; I've got spare time. Reminds me of this line randomly -

The investment in the trenches sometimes includes drafting guys Day 2 and letting them sit and get better (like Jurgens and Steen). That’s a hell of a luxury to have as a team
 
I pointed this out in another thread but the Eagles’ OC next year will likely be Kevin Patullo, a guy who has never called plays at any level. There may be a dropoff from Kellen Moore calling plays.

If he was a superstar in waiting, he would’ve taken over playcalling duties from Brian Johnson last year or been named the OC this year instead of them having to go get Kellen Moore. If you look at his career path, he looks like a guy whose career was saved by Sirianni, his buddy from his days as a QC coach in KC

It is too bad the Eagles didn't implode after 2023. I guess they didn't because of Lurie and Roseman, unfortunately - they had patience. I suspected that maybe Roseman helped Sirianni make some changes on his staff but never really corroborated that theory.

Depends on what we do this offseason. We need to at least make it back to the playoffs. I'd be happy making it to the divisional round. I think we're at least another offseason away from being where we can be with Daniels at QB.

Our roster is just not where it needs to be and I think it will take at least 2 offseasons to get it there. 2 good offsesaons
 
We need more speed on defense, namely we can't keep getting caught flat footed against the run.
We are also going to need new OTs. Cosmi's injury means Coleman likely shifting inside, provided we can find a quality LT, and Wylie should be upgraded.

Honestly, I don't even want to try. Before this season, I thought rookie QB, mediocre O line and mediocre defense, that'll get us five or six wins. I will be interested to see the Front Office work this off season. We still need a lot of help, and as I've been preaching for decades, we need an O line to keep Daniels upright.
