Tell the Truth Monday- New Orleans Saints Edition

The oddball thought which I do not expect to happen is that the Eagles might want to lose to us just because they may want to face us in the playoffs.

Don't expect it. Don't want it. But I think it's not an impossible evil thought. After all, Roseman and Peters do enjoy working with one another ;)
How does that help with 2 more weeks to go? Isn't 2/7 still the most likely way these two teams play one another? And, if so, wouldn't a Philly win/Washington loss still help that more than hurt it?

I thought if we win we are still a seventh place team? Maybe my math is wrong :)

Besides, I really don't think Philly would purposefully lay an egg for us.

The Eagles are currently tied with the Lions for the top seed in the NFC. The Eagles want to win and get that first round bye. I can assure you that is more important to them than trying to figure out who they may or may not play.

Sure! Be a realist. Make sense.

That's no fun.

Ok, I will admit that I thought his was a stoic-like post until I looked closer.

Here some truth of a different ilk.

The Commanders have finished with at least 9 wins this year. The first time they have done so since the 2015 season.

If they finish with 10 wins it will be the first time since the 2012 season and 2005 before that season.

If they finish with 11 wins it will be the first time since the 1991 Super Bowl season.

Last year this team won 4 games. Now that I have had a chance to come down from yesterday’s near collapse I have taken the time to appreciate where we are compared to where we should be. Shocking turn around and I don’t know that we will fully appreciate it until the off-season, however we end up this year.

Alot of props due to HOG GMAP the coaching staff and players. 11 wins would be awesome. I expect to lose this week.

Imagine next year post FA draft and a solid year under JDs belt. I swear this kid is our salvation. If we win a SB DC should give him the key to the city

If he wins a Superbowl imagine how many people who hate the name Commanders will buy his jersey anyway.

John Keim mentioned last night that the Washington players were aware going into the game that this particular officiating crew is known for ticky tack calls. Thought that was interesting.
This officiating crew is known to have a hard on for washington. When ever I see Shawn Hochuli leading a crew I have zero expectations of a fairly called game.

There is no way I give Brian Robinson a 2nd contract, especially with his injury history. As I've been saying for years he's good and not a weakness but if you really looked hard at the starting RBs across the league you will realize that he is clearly in the bottom half. To my untrained eye yesterday it sure looked like he was running into the back of his blockers a lot.

I looked up his deal and was surprised to learn that the 5th year of a 3rd round contract pays him $1.6 M. I had no idea a day 3 pick paid that well, good for him.
Brob is a difference maker on this team. He sees holes better than most backs, doesn't go down on the first hit and is good a blocking during pass plays and good at catching out of the back field. He is a top 1/4th of the league running back when healthy. That is my only issue he has to stay healthy

Just a note of caution on our record this season. You can only beat what’s in front of you etc etc but the combined win percentage of the teams we have beaten (our strength of victory) is .280. That’s the third lowest in the league (only Miami and Carolina have lower numbers).

We’ve beaten up on teams we should beat. Going to have to start beating teams who present a real challenge.

Our OL plays like that against the Eagles, Jalen Carter is going to be in the backfield more than Brian Robinson. That was really bad. I don't think anyone played particularly well.

That said, I hope Shawn Hochuli gets an incurable foot fungus. That game was called worse than the 2022 Giants game...this one:

Well, either way any muck we’ll have the center back and apparently Cosmi was not well. Having them healthy would be a good start….

We need to beat Atlanta. They’re just ok. And have been fading. Best Atlanta and I’ll take the .280 winning percent straight into the playoffs.

We really need to find a way to run the ball and take some off of Jayden’s plate. The oline was terrible. They didn’t open any holes for Robinson to get through. Kliff’s run game leaves a lot to be desired. It’s predictable. With that said, I still think we need to look at RB in the draft next year.
We’ve been running the ball well most of the season. When you are down your starting center and second running back, things get tough.

I think we should be better in the run game in coming weeks.

I wouldn't use this game as any real evaluation for our OL and run game. Biadasz being a last minute scratch just threw everything out of whack. And in fairness, the Saints are very good up front with Jordan, Breese, and yes even Young who has been a decent pass rusher.

You believe he is better than 75% of the running backs around the league and sees holes other backs do not? Yeah I guess if you are including depth guys he is better than most but I was talking about the starters. I simply invite you to take a hard look at other starting backs around the league, B Rob is not nearly as explosive as most all of them and I don't think he sees holes they do not. That certainly was not the case on Sunday where he ran into the backs of blockers several times.

Now don't get me wrong. As I said he is fine and not a liability. He moves the pile and he is our best back, although if he was healthy I'd argue Eckler sees the holes just as well and is much more explosive. I firmly believe they can find a back just as good or better in the 3rd round of most any draft. RBs at his level are easy to find which is why paying big bucks or using a first on a RB is stupid unless he is special like a Gibbs for instance. B Rob is nothing special. .

Yeah it's true BRob likes to run up the backs of the OL. If we ever implement the Tush Push he would be the one I'd choose as a pusher.

I don’t know, I feel like Jayden Daniels is a big reason our running game looks ok, team stats wise that is. but when you look at individual backs it’s not so impressive. I know team stats doesn’t tell you everything that needs to be known on whether you’re successful or not. We have had a couple of nice run games against lesser run defenses, but there isn’t much of a run game when they face someone halfway decent.

Granted BRob has been injured a lot this year and yes he has averaged 4.4 ypc, but there are no explosive plays. His most explosive play is 40 yds. For two different games. Other than that he’ll break a 10 yarder to 20 yarder every so often. Ekeler looked good to begin the season but was trailing off before the concussion.

I think the lack of a run game is mostly on Kliff’s shoulders though. I feel like I can call run and where they are going 75% (hyperbole) of the time. If I can call it out then you sure as heck know that the other teams can call it out.
