Tell the Truth Monday- New Orleans Saints Edition

It was fugly, but I'll take the W. The NO D is no joke. The real joke, however, was the sacks and the D getting gashed in the 2nd half.

Didn't seem that NO even tied to look Lattimore's way. Wondering if he follows Brown all game next weekend? That matchup will be worth watching. If Lattimore works out that will be a huge check mark going into free agency and the draft. Would still like another corner though to go along with Mikey, Im not seeing BSJ on the roster next year.

There was a lot more good in that win yesterday than bad. We dominated that game for a very large portion of it. Look at the TOP - nearly a 41 to 19 minute advantage. If not for 3 or 4 huge misses by the offense, and some horrible calls by the officials, that game is out of reach early in the 4th quarter. If I were going to criticize the team for yesterday's performance, it would be that there were too many mental mistakes made, particularly coming off a bye week. And anytime Jayden Daniels is our leading rusher, that's probably not ideal. I don't think that was the game plan coming into the game, but the protection broke down often enough it was either escape the pocket or take even more sacks than he did. The fact that he was running for his life most of the day but did not turn the ball over is really impressive because usually when a team is able to generate that kind of pressure, a QB is going to struggle. We will forget just how dominant we were for a lot of this one because of how it ended. That's why teams of our talent level can't afford to miss open TD opportunities multiple times.

I listened to the post game and became a bit more of a fan of Bmitch. I was glad that he talked about the reffing not once but three times in three different segments. It was as big a part of the game as anything else. Hope Quinn and Ertz come back soon though. Those were two huge losses and probably did make a big impact on our second half woes, too.

Also, loved the fact that Daniels apologized to his mom twice during the presser for slipping up and saying using some French lol

Our OL plays like that against the Eagles, Jalen Carter is going to be in the backfield more than Brian Robinson. That was really bad. I don't think anyone played particularly well.

That said, I hope Shawn Hochuli gets an incurable foot fungus. That game was called worse than the 2022 Giants game...this one:

I thought we would be able to run the ball better yesterday, think that had a big impact on the game and forcing us to go to the pass more often and contributed to NO teeing off for the 9? sacks. As everyone has pointed out Badass being out turned out to be a big loss. Not having the safety blanket of Noah and Eckler is also a big hit.

John Keim mentioned last night that the Washington players were aware going into the game that this particular officiating crew is known for ticky tack calls. Thought that was interesting.

It's not just that there were ticky tack calls (there were against us). It's that there were ticky tack calls against us and let 'em play egregious fouls allowed for the other guys.

Still kinda in disbelief that yesterday’s game was even that close… for the life of me except for that razzle dazzle TD pass to Kamara did the Saints have any other big play? I can’t seem to remember 1… Lattimore never got a pass directed his way.

I do know our running game (save Daniels) is at so many times a no show… take the 1 big run away from BRob and he has like 40yds on 20 carries… not good… at times he just pitter patters instead of hitting the hole with authority.

Definitely got to clean up some things heading into Sundays game against the Iggles though… but still staying with my prediction going into the Saints game I think we go 3-1 to close out the season, so far 1-0 with yesterdays win…

I get the whole "they make mistakes" thing, it's a hard game to call. But when they catch a finger on a facemask against BSJ (who still sucks hot ass), and let the egregious DPI right in front of them go, it drives me nuts. The roughing the passer calls were not anywhere near penalties. Ticky tack call on holding (I thought, feel free to disagree) on the big Dyami Brown catch. It was so lopsided in the Saints favor. And Rizzi has the audacity to complain? He can eat a back of reheated dicks.

Without even looking in depth at each penalty, there was a huge disparity. Washington was penalized 9 times for 84 yds while the Saints were penalized just 4 times for 36 yds. That's kind of an eye-catching imbalance especially in a game we mostly dominated. It felt like the officials were doing their absolute best to keep the Saints alive in this one.

To tell the truth…I sincerely hope that the game next Sunday is the last where there are more opposing fans in attendance.
As a STH, I hope the same!

I think I saved my sanity by leaving the game chat right after the 3rd quarter yesterday. It was ugly, we won, onto the next week. Chiefs have won close and ugly all year(no I am not comparing us to the Chiefs) the W counts more than the score.

Obviously the Hail Mary was the play of the year, but that was a lot of luck. For me the play of the year was Jayden's first TD pass to Terry where he almost fell, avoided the rush and in a split second found Terry and delivered the ball, a perfect throw into heavy traffic. Surprised nobody is talking about that play today, I believe that is Jayden's best play he's made all year and that's saying something.

Mrs. Skinsfan & I are still talking about that play. It was insane!

We really need to find a way to run the ball and take some off of Jayden’s plate. The oline was terrible. They didn’t open any holes for Robinson to get through. Kliff’s run game leaves a lot to be desired. It’s predictable. With that said, I still think we need to look at RB in the draft next year.

There is no way I give Brian Robinson a 2nd contract, especially with his injury history. As I've been saying for years he's good and not a weakness but if you really looked hard at the starting RBs across the league you will realize that he is clearly in the bottom half. To my untrained eye yesterday it sure looked like he was running into the back of his blockers a lot.

I looked up his deal and was surprised to learn that the 5th year of a 3rd round contract pays him $1.6 M. I had no idea a day 3 pick paid that well, good for him.
