Why is Niles Paul on the roster at TE?

He doesn't 't catch passes and is too small to be an inline blocker.

If he is really a backup wide receiver who excels on ST, that's fine but we need to find another player who can hold up at TE.

We kept 4 TE's this year and he's listed as the backup FB too.

I don't know why there is so much hostility toward Niles Paul. That kid has done everything asked of him and been one of the true bright spots on our special teams. He is not a #1 TE...probably not even a #2, but he has filled in plenty this year and I have seen him with some great blocks. He may not be consistent in blocking, but he is a valuable asset to a bad team right now.

Or were you referring to Jordan Reed for missing a game? The only truly missing TE has been Fred Davis.
 
Exactly my point.

The Redskins should have cut Morgan or Davis when the coaches decided they were no longer in the team's plans.

Instead they have been kept, wrapped up like mummies for weeks.

We essentially have a 51 man roster.

Paul.
I have nothing personal against Paul. He may have strong work ethic, character, and effort.
I just don't think he brings enough talent to the table, to warrant a roster spot......even if you add up all his positions of TE, ST, FB, and WR

Afrer watching hundreds, and maybe even 1,000 football games, I can't ever remember seeing a TE return kickoffs.

It's beyond embarrassing.

We don't have one WR, one DB or one RB who is faster than Paul, and can return kickoffs? This roster is in shambles.
 
Niles Paul is the best Special Teams player we have on this roster. And I am not talking about just KR. On coverage he is almost always the first one to the ball and makes plays all the time. If you guys notice, our starting field position is no longer around the 12-15 yard line, it's usually anywhere around the 20-24 yard line. Morgan wasn't even making it to the 20. Paul does not hesitate and dance around, he simply hits the only hole available. Not warrant a roster spot? That is just nonsense!
 
We could use more fans Fear.... of anything they can find to cheer for!

This is so true. And for a special teams that sucked earlier in the year, why would they cut one of their most valuable special teams players. Who cares what his "other" position is. They could do like Lorenzo Alexander and list him as a TE, OL, DL, LB, FB. Who cares. He is a great special team player and the main reason he is on the team. I wish they had a better kickoff returner, but he way the returns have been, I'll take getting the ball to the 21.
 
we lost the heart and soul off our specials who also gave us good reps on defence, when lorenzo left last year, if we cut paul, our ST's cover unit would be even worse than it is.

I play LG on the oline now that im too old to play Dline, and when one of us is play poorly, the other guys will get on him because our QB is also a good friend. I help him up on the rare occasion he gets sacked , it doesnt matter if I have to come across the field. its just what you do as an Olineman, seeing our oline walking away, when Rg3 is on the ground pisses me off and whoever that Oline coach is needs to have his weak ass fired. you as an olineman need to protect that qb like its the only thing that matters.
