I know many want the higher pick but winning is contagious and I want the division title. Let’s roll with Taylor!

Not sure why I can’t unsticky this. Please move to regular threads. Thank you.

I think it would be a mistake to wiffle waffle all week in the hopes that Smith can start. If he got gimpy after what was really one practice session this week, he's not going to be a reliable go next Sunday. Give Heinicke the early nod and give him all the reps this week. That would be my strong preference.

Which is why Rivera will wiffle waffle all week. Hell - I wouldn't put it past Rivera to go with Haskins again.

IMO Rivera’s ill-timed decision to go for 2 when we had the Giants on the run earlier this season is why we still have to win one more game.

With the second half momentum we had in that game it was unlikely the Giants were going to win the toss and score a TD.

I don’t know why anyone is playing coy with Haskins at this point.

Haskins is Josh Rosen, another top 15 pick that just didn’t turn out.

We can beat a dead horse or just move on.

The healthy decision is to move on.

From what I saw today, Henicke plays at least as well as Allen did and maybe as well as Smith. Being a no huddle situation, I'm not going to go overboard about his performance. What I do know with 100% certainty is that he's much better than Haskins. Haskins had his shots in the same no huddle situation and couldn't get it done. Heinicke has to be the guy next week. Almost 0% chance he plays worse than Haskins did.

As far as the league done messed up goes. Maybe he meant how they had him being drafted at all?

Waking up to a Monday morning Haskins DUI or some other drama won't surprise me at all. I hope he is stronger mentally than he appears. He seems like the kind of guy who could engage in some attention-seeking behavior.

My brother texted me after the game saying "the coach done messed up". I thought that was pretty good.

As far as Haskins saying that at the draft, I had no problem with it at the time. If he really felt that way, it should have put a chip on his shoulder to work hard and prove "the league" wrong. A lot of other players have said the same and some have done that. Haskins didn't work hard to prove anyone wrong. So he deserves all the mocking he gets from that.

Practice field beauty gets outplayed by practice squad reject that was out of football.

CLAP, CLAP, CLAP.

Get ready for prime time Taylor. Eagles game moved to Sunday Night.

I hope they make Haskins inactive for the next game and cut him in the offseason. Blown draft pick.

Haskins can throw a pretty ball.

There is the complete summation of his skills.

Henicke, granted in mop-up duty, showed so much promise that Haskins never has exhibited. Smith, who I admire tremendously, is probably done and I sincerely hope that he recognizes it.

Here's a question for the shark tank.

Who says that Taylor Heinicke isn't the next great Washington QB?
Why isn't it possible he is our franchise QB just sitting there waiting to be given a chance to show us?
Why are we so bought into the prognositications, rankings, and expertise of draft rankings, NFL Combine, college profiles, and experts on Twitter and Sports media?

This has nothing to do with what I think about Taylor Heinicke. It's just a general trend I've noted that fans almost always seize on whatever the conventional wisdom is, usually being parroted by sports media guys, as 'the truth', even when is often and repeatedly proven wrong.

Conventional wisdom: QBs selected with high draft picks are better than QBs selected later or who even go undrafted.

It's just clearly so wrong, but so many believe it to be true.

So who says Taylor Heinicke isn't the next Joe ****ing Montana in waiting? Why is it so inconceivable that he could be? I mean, besides conventional wisdom...

Has any qb bounced around the league (WFT is his 5th NFL stop, I believe) and then become great?

5 stops? I dont know.

but, a lot of players go to a new team and are amazing. Drew Brees comes to mind.

That's a fair question. But I think coaches and scouts also buy into 'conventional wisdom' that's usually based on measurables. 'He's too short', 'Doesn't possess NFL arm strength', 'His 40 time is terrible', those kinds of things are 'conventional wisdom'. It's probably right a lot of the time. But I do believe that far too much emphasis is placed on measureables these days and that there may have been some hidden gem QBs who, had they been given a reasonable chance and playing time, could've shown they had what it takes.

I get that great talents generally easily show their great talent, that great talent is often based on elite physical tools and a record of success. I'm talking more about guys who HAVE had a great deal of success but because they supposedly 'lack' elite physical tools, never get the chance at the NFL level to prove what they might be capable of? Meanwhile, guys with great measurables and huge 'NFL arms' (Haskins anyone) get every opportunity and prove not to be NFL QBs afterall.

Kurt Warner comes to mind. Undrafted and didn’t make a roster after spending camp with the Packers. Then went to the Arena league followed by the Euro league, then out of football, back to the NFL and the Hall of Fame. There may have been others, but he pops into mind.

It's almost like a Kurt Warner type has to be the beneficiary of a perfect scenario where he gets a chance, is highly effective, and finds himself in a situation where he has the opportunity to play for an extended stretch. Those kinds of chance opportunities are pretty much limited to being in the 'right place at the right time'. Because prior to that chance, Kurt Warner would've been described as a 'career backup' or a JAG by 90% of NFL 'experts'.

Warner was the first to come to my mind. He didn’t bounce around the league, he bounced around the minors.

I am very curious about Heinicke. I’d love to see him in a position where he is prepped and the opponent is prepped.
