Taylor Heinicke Discussion

I know the overwhelming majority of the time the backup Washington QB is not better.

However, for the first time that I can remember, it is 100% clear that our backup QB is better than our starting QB. Heinicke is better than Wentz. It's not even up for debate at this point.

Wentz is pitifully bad and his days as a starting QB are over after this season. He is very lucky that he has two inept buffoons like Snyder and Rivera willing to pay millions for his worthless services.

So, now that Wentz is likely on the shelf for a little while, Heinicke is gonna get his shot. I hope we see a different offense a week from now. More of the quick strike, play action, bootleg style offense getting Heinicke out of the kill zone behind the O-line.

I hope you're right that he's leaps and bounds ahead of Wentz, and I hope I was wrong that Turner wasn't holding Wentz back the most.

Yep. Turner should have a gameplan that fits Heinicke well. Fewer deep shots. More crossers and quick stuff. Hope Heinicke kicks butt. Would be great to hear "I told you sos" vs. hearing "I told you sos"

There is no "hope" involved. It's a fact that Heinicke is far better. Too bad that you can't see that.

Even when Washington was losing last year, Heinicke could convert more than one freaking 3rd down conversion per game. Which is a lot more than Neanderthal man Wentz can do.

Seriously, how old are you?

Old enough to recognize that Wentz sucks ass...and it ain't the offensive line's fault and it ain't Scott Turner's fault.

Most Eagles fans finally accepted this harsh truth, maybe Commode fans will also eventually come around.

At some point you'll learn tact, and not to always take the dig. There are plenty of examples of things Wentz has done that Heinicke simply cannot... Too bad you can't see that yourself.

You've been addressed about your tone. A lot of us have continued to try and hold a civil conversation, but you're only alienating yourself from people.

And again, nobody on this board has ever rooted against Heinicke.. We've all pulled for him. The bigger problem is your viewpoint, and posting style, have caused us all to argue against someone we're all actually rooting for, and always have been.

I apologize, but I see a lot of blame shifting on this board. It's annoying. People don't want to admit that they made a mistake when they thought Wentz would be an upgrade over Heinicke.

People should just admit when they are wrong sometimes, instead of blaming the play-caller or the offensive line.

I'm confident that Heinicke will perform much better than Wentz next Sunday.

I have been suspicious of this account from the start. 99% of it’s posts, since the beginning, are strictly anti Wentz and almost never anything else.

This is a troll pretending to be a Washington fan.

We debated if he was someone we know trolling as well. I have my suspicions.

We havent been proven wrong yet, so we're not going to admit any mistake. That's like me yelling at my kids for failing a test before they've even left for school... even if I have my concerns.

You haven't been around here very long, but if you go back to last year, you'll hear a lot of the same criticisms (and blame) about the offense because Heinicke was facing A LOT of the same hurdles with playcalling, scheme, O-line, WR Drops, offensive philosophy... etc. That's the problem. It hasn't changed. The argument we're ALL making is that the problem is very likely much bigger than the QB. It always has been. Heinicke can do things that Wentz cant. Wentz can do things Heinicke cant.

by the way, you won't meet a SINGLE true contributing member of this board who hopes this team continues to fail. Scott Turner, Ron Rivera, Jack Del Rio, Taylor Heinicke, Carson Wentz, we dont care. We will all gladly eat crow to admit that we were wrong when it comes to the team failing. Being right does not out weigh our hope for the team to be successful. We ALL want to be proven wrong.

Again, I disagree with this.

Even when Washington was 2 - 6 last year, Heinicke was playing quite well. Do you realize that Washington only punted ONE TIME TOTAL in the two losses against Denver and Green Bay last year? We lost those two games through a lot of bad luck -- cutting Hopkins before the Denver game was a huge mistake and it cost Washington a victory.

Wentz has not played well in one game this season. Even against the Jaguars, he almost blew it with two horrible INTs in the 4th quarter.

I'm just not going to take your word for it that there are "things" that Wentz does better than Heinicke. I haven't seen it.

If you want to think that, I don't care.

I firmly believe that Heinicke is the best QB this team has had since Joe Theismann. I just do not want to see the washed-up Wentz on the field. I've seen enough to know that he will never be a starting QB again after this season.

Taylor Heinicke is the second coming!!

Al Bundy wishes he had the stats Taylor Heinicke gets in the first half!

Seriously, how old are you?

Based on the comments about this being the worst season of his lifetime, I think we have assumed 3 or 4, since there was a 3-13 season 3 years ago. I think that comment confirms it.

It's not my word... it's proven. Heinicke doesn't have the same arm Wentz has.

Again, you're arguing Wentz vs Heinicke, when all along we've been arguing Wentz isn't the only (or the biggest) problem.

As far as the games vs Green Bay and vs Denver, i think we all had the same criticism of Turner in those games as we did this year. Vs Green Bay we had 5 drives inside the GB 30 yard line that resulted in 0 points.

vs Denver, it was one of the worst offensive games we've ever seen, and to add insult to injury we had 3 drives in the 4th quarter and couldn't convert the TD needed to tie the game... this also includes a Heinicke fumble in the Denver Red Zone when Heinicke was holding onto the ball and got blown up with Leno diving on it to save the possession, only to set up a 4th and 19 where Heinicke threw up a jump ball into double coverage in the endzone that got intercepted. We got bailed out by a fumble late giving us a prayer at the Denver 25 with 18 seconds where we couldn't advance the ball at all. Watch the final drive,

Washington had 2 timeouts at the beginning of the drive

Play 1 - 1st and 10 @ Den 24 - :21 to go (empty set) Deandre Carter is open on an out route... Heinicke doesn't have the arm and a CB (Surtain) is able to recover and knock it down (almost intercepted). Flowers got BLOWN UP and is injured on the play. Washington forced to forfeit a time out due to the injury
Play 2 - 2nd and 10 @ Den 24 - :18 to go (empty set - sound familiar?) - O-line gets pushed back, Heinicke attempts to step up and get sacked...
Play 3 - 3rd and 16 @ Den 30 - :13 to go - Heinicke throws outside to Ricky Seals Jones for a 1 yard pass, can't get feet down... pass incomplete
Play 4 - 4th and 16 @ Den 30 - :08 to go - Hail Mary throw lands 4 yards out of the back of the endzone... Game over.

These are 2 glaring examples of what plagued us last year. The worst decision making (Coaches as well as players) at the worst possible time. We had 3 chances to score against Denver in that 4th quarter, and came away with NOTHING on the score board.

If Blewitt had not had two FGs BLOCKED during that Denver game, then Heinicke would not have had to play "hero ball" at the end of the game. That loss cannot be pinned on Heinicke. That was Rivera's stupidity, cutting Hopkins before the game.

And if Wentz was QB in that game, Washington would have punted 10 times and lost by at least 14 points. So I completely disagree it's the play-calling.

Theismann To HOF,

You have not been here long enough to know any of us well enough to say the things to and about us that you have. Period. I have never been around a more thoughtful, less biased group of amateur students of the game than the guys on this board. We have been patient. We have laid out facts to support our positions. In return, we have got beaten about the head and shoulders with your opinion in the most insulting way.

And I'm nearly done with the snide crap on your part.

At this point, we all get your agenda and your bias against Wentz and in favor of Heinicke. You have driven it home with all the relentlessness and diplomacy of a Jr high locker room bully.

This is the last time I will tell you to change your tone.

We love the debate, but when I dread coming to my own home on the interwebz because there is a guy in my living room calling me an idiot, even obliquely, it's time for a change.

Do you understand what I am saying?
