Tablet gone insane?

I’ve had this happen before but now can’t remember how I resolved it. My windows tablet when you start to type in any app starts auto typing the first letter continuously.

It makes troubleshooting a bitch because not all windows menu options are available as clickable items and you can’t use search.

I am currently updating to Windows 11 hoping that resolves it but not confident it will. Anyone experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

Craziest thing ever. I did a bunch of updates, updated to Windows 11, and it did not fix the issue. Give up, order a replacement laptop today at work, come home, turn the old one on just for ****'s and giggles - and of course, problem has disappeared.

Now I'm even more mystified than I was before...
