I signed up here in 2013 but never really posted.
So I guess I should say greetings to Tarhog, Monte51Coleman, OmTheBard, Pete, and so on

On to my post
Anyone who has done farming or gardening knows about these battles.
Those little Tree Rats, or Rat Monkeys, called Squirrels that come and dig holes in your plants, sprouts, pots, and uiproot everything.
They are Vandals, Thieves, and even Pyromaniacs, because they often chew electrical wiring and literally burn houses down.
They are greedy, ruthless, ungrateful, relentless, and seemingly unstoppable, because I have tried every suggestion but they keep coming back, to hear me scream.
They even tear through protective netting I have tried
Please share any successful tactics you have found.

Wow! Talk about a blast from the past!!!

I have heard some have success with predator urine (like coyote) but I think squirrels quickly figure out there’s no real danger.

Not to be cruel, but a BB gun might be the best solution if you really have a problem

To me, the BB gun doesn't sound too cruel.
What sounds cruel, is me trying to collect a urine sample from a wild coyote. So, hopefully they sell it in a store near me.

Squirrels are the worst pests. My neighbor installed a bird feeder in their front yard and that thing has attracted every squirrel in the neighborhood to it. This started around 10 years ago and they have already chewed up my truck three separate times costing me thousands so far. The latest chew was last month, and they have gone through my EVAP system so that my engine light stays on now all the time due to my leaking emissions. My truck is so old (2008) that the dealer can't order replacement lines either. The dealer says I'll need to search the secondary market for a replacement.

The best I can do is place mothballs in the engine area in hopes that the odor is a deterrent.

I was placing rat poison out in the yard and around the truck but I'm in one of the 1/4 acre subdivisions were everyone walks their dogs so I stopped doing that for obvious reasons.

I have a pellet rifle along with a .22 plinker but I'm not in the neighborhood for those unless I want to get arrested.

What's worse is those neighbors who feed them peanuts. The little fuckers snatch them from his yard, and bury them in mine. I'd still poison them....the dogs should be on leashes....

I would think a shotgun would do the trick. :p

Rat poison is pretty dangerous because if the squirrel dies somewhere, or even gets sick and become easy prey, some cat or crow or hawk or Eagle or other animal can eat the meat and end up dead as well. I've lost at least two, maybe three cats to rat poison over the past forty years. Not sure where or how they are getting into the stuff. It might be under a shed somewhere - placed many decades ago.

Just curious, are you the same gentleman who would often attend Training Camp, and then post TC updates, and scouting reports on prospects, and all kinds of other analytics, on another forum ?
Or am I confusing your name with a similar one ?
Sorry to go off-topic, I just wanted to clear that up in my head.

Those sure do come in handy, in dire situations
