Sport or Entertainment?

RE: Nascar - I find it hard to consider something that is so involved in machinery a sport. I have a hard time considering golf a sport, and I love playing and watching golf. There are many things I don't consider sports in the Olympics. I consider those things competitions. In no way is that meant to degrade what they do or imply that what they do isn't hard or that I could easily replace them and do just as well, it just isn't a sport in my opinion. If that bothers you then you should consider not letting other people's opinions on what is and isn't a sport bother you, because who the hell cares what anyone else thinks. If you enjoy it then enjoy it and let everyone else kick rocks.

I also have a hard time considering golf a sport, but its more borderline than NASCAR. If you rule out golf, you have to give a hard look at baseball, lol.

I also agree with your last line - who cares if someone doesn't think NASCAR is a sport? If you like watching really fast left turns, then go ahead and enjoy it. Funny that the same people who get up-in-arms about over-sensitivity to the name Redskins will be the first to jump down your throat if you say NASCAR isn't a sport.

The reason I don't consider golf a sport is because you're competing against the course more than other players. At least in my opinion. Baseball isn't like that.

Speaking of baseball, why is there no uniform regulations for the outfield wall distance, shape, heightetc? You can have a semi circle wall with a 320 ft centerfield wall 3 inches high, or you can have a zig zag star/trapezoid shaped wall that's 510 ft away and 80 feet high. WTF?
