The Knuckleheads enter the Pig Sty to sling some mud at the 2024 Mock Draft board with us. An early mass run on OTs puts the crew in a tough spot, but we endeavored to persevere and found some great talent to add to Dan Quinn's roster.

While I'd largely be excited about this draft if it were to happen (missing out on a stud LT would hurt though), I couldn't help but think that it doesn't conform to Peters' MO in previous drafts.

• Previous high for taking a TE - #101 (Cameron Latu - 2023)
• Previous high for taking a LB - #61 (Drake Jackson - 2022)
• Never drafted a Center at all, much less one in the Top 100

No clue if that means anything or not, but I did find it interesting. It isn't like SF ever had the utter dirth of talent on their roster that we have so his MO may change radically.

Totally fair. Just pointing out history as Peters gets a lot of the credit for the success of SF's drafts since 2017.

If guys are going off the board and we have someone rated highly we should move up into the late first and snag him.

Wide receivers and linebackers can be found later in the draft.

They took them golfing, instead of what? They don't need a 4 hour interview with them by now. Let's see how they react with unexpected socialization, they'll all need it on new teams, new team mates. I can see the reasoning.

I guess the thought of this kind of outing having ANY influence on who we actually draft makes me very queasy. If it was just a fun activity - cool. You know who’d have really impressed on one of these things?

Said it last night on the podcast ... putting myself in Peter's shoes, if I'm doing an outing like that it's because I'm looking for how these guys handle themselves in the only Un-scripted, Un-rehearsed, Un-coached-up group setting these guys will have done throughout this whole process. Chance to see how they treat the other players, how they treat the brass, how they treat the wait staff, whatever. Maybe get just a little bit more insight into all the intangibles things we pay lip service to every year but then seem to forget again as soon as the youtube highlight vids start playing again.

That was a great point too. I would imagine that by this point, they know everything they can about these guys except what they are really like. Everything in this process is so scripted, guys are prepped for the exact questions they will ask, there is almost nothing that happens they aren’t expecting. And if it does, it’s normally controversial like when teams ask a guy if his mom is a prostitute. Having something fun for guys to just hang out, seeing what they are like, and just getting to know guys is fine.

Another thing to consider. Down the road when these guys become free agents, they may remember what Peters, Quinn, and Harris are like and want to come play here. We haven’t had that since free agency became a thing in the 90s. Guys only came to get paid and lived with the miserable experience. This may be how they help rebuild the good name of the franchise among the players.

If this catches on, prospects will have to enjoy food/golf and socializing in a relaxed setting in the future. The horror

One of the pillars of organizational success is relationships. Peters may have spoken about it in his introductory press conference. In his most recent pre-draft press conference, he spent the first six minutes thanking people in the building before fielding questions. As well, Joe Gibbs was huge on relationships. This may very well have been an exercise in seeing if these guys are likeable. If I don't like you and you aren't a genuine good person, I am not running through the wall for you as a teammate on Sundays. The NFL is all about the brotherhood. Are these players others in the locker room could easily forge connections with? I actually think it's a unique, out of the box thinking exercise.
