We are almost there, folks. The end of the Daniel Snyder era as owner of the Washington Redskins/Commanders.

Undoubtedly, when people reflect on Snyder's reign years down the road, it is ultimately going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons (and rightly so). The perpetual losing on the football field was a direct product of the dysfunction that Snyder himself created at the top of the hierarchy. Those who put on the uniform and played between the lines were ultimately handcuffed from experiencing any real team success because of Satan himself. That all being said, it would be unfortunate to lose sight of the fact that there were some pretty talented football players that sported the burgundy and gold while Snyder was owner. I thought it would be cool to take a few moments to honour some of those individuals as Snyder heads for exit doors and we prepare to close this brutal chapter of the team's history for good. So here goes...I present to you the "Snyder Era" Awards.

Snyder Era Award Categories:

1. Team MVP - Which Snyder era player would we not have been able to live without as a team? Which player was most valuable and important towards overall team production, success, and performance?

2. Mr. Consistency Award - Who was 'Mr. Dependable' during the Snyder Era? Who was that guy that we could lean on most week in and week out to bring his 'A Game" on the gridiron, regardless of how the rest of the team performed?

4. Newbie of The Year Award - While there were a ton of Free Agency blunders under Snyder's reign, which Free Agency acquisition was most impactful towards the overall team?

5. Unsung Hero Award - This award will be given to the Snyder Era player that best personifies the spirit of football. That is, the player who positively affects teammates around them through a true willingness to contribute in whatever required capacity on the field and by focusing on doing the little things right to get the job done. He might not always get the accolades, but his contributions definitely do not go unnoticed.

6. Grinder Award - Given to the Snyder Era player who shows the best competitive spirit, fights for every inch, and knows what to do to set the tone on the team.

7. Most Exciting Player Award - Your pick for most electrifying Snyder era player.

8. "Pick Me Up" Award - Your pick for the player that seemed to give the team a jolt most consistently throughout the Snyder Era.

9. Coach Award - Very simply put, given to the coach (head, assistant, or coordinator) who did the best job navigating his way through Dan's bull***t while still getting some pretty solid results out of his players or positional unit on the football field.

Make your picks and let's hear what you think, BGO! Bye Dan!

Awesome idea Paul... this will be fun!

For the record, i left off any player drafted in the last couple seasons. Guys like Jon Allen and Terry McLaurin could qualify for about 3 or 4 of these awards.

2. Mr. Consistency Award - London Fletcher

4. Newbie of The Year Award - Pierre Garcon

5. Unsung Hero Award - Reed Doughty

6. Grinder Award - Alfred Morris

Team MVP - Santana Moss. His numbers are pretty ridiculous playing with a has been and a few never were QBs. Go back and watch his highlights from that era. The guy was in every big play.

Mr Consistency - Tie: Chris Samuels and Jon Allen. Samuels locked down the LT position for 10 years. He didn’t miss many games until late in his career. Allen is on the same track of being consistent, never having to worry about that position.

Newbie - Moss and DeAngelo Hall. Those guys played well proving that you can’t miss on free agents 100% of the time.

Unsung Hero - Tress Way. Yeah, I went there with a punter, but the guy is really good and gets no love. I could go even deeper down the list with Ethan Albright if you dare me.

Grinder - Mike Sellars. I wish he could have played forever. He played hard and when he got going, no defender wanted any part of him throwing a block.

Most Exciting - Sean Taylor. I loved watching him play and wish I could have seen more of him.

Pick Me Up - Moss, Portis, Kerrigan, Fletcher, Allen. I feel like a lot of guys fit here for their consistent play in inconsistent times.

Coach - It’s obviously Gibbs being in the playoffs 50% of his seasons. But I’m also going to give a shout out to Marty Schottenheimer. The job he did turning the team around in 2000. He got screwed by Snyder and I think he would have produced a winner for multiple years.

I dunno. I think the Snyder Awards should go for the most Snyder-like performance.

Team MVP Two way tie: Deion Sanders and Albert Haynesworth. Both took the money, loafed and run.
Mr. Consistency: Norv Turner. Turner could start out with 6-0, but by the end of every season he'd be 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7.
Newbie: Adam Archuletta. Who needs Ryan Clark when you can get the star power and physical potential of Adam Archuletta!
Unsung Hero: Jermiah Trotter: Came to this team an All Star and Probowl Player. Played like a total bum while here. Left and became an All Star again.
Grinder: Jim Haslett. Like a Greek hero he kept pushing a boulder up a mountain only to wake up to find his boulder was waiting at the bottom as if he'd never moved it at all.
Most Exciting: Lavar Arrington. He's our Lawrence Taylor. He's so dominating we'll actually put him back on kick returns! He's... freelancing again and letting the other team score. That's exciting for them, I guess.
Pick Me Up: Bruce Allen, Scott McCloughan, and Jay Gruden (tied) All of them are happy to pick you up and take you to the club. Every hour is Happy Hour! Whoo!
Coach: I want to say Spurrier, but the most Snyder coach was probably Mike Shannahan. Look at all the coaching talent he had here that he squandered. Look at his resume. Look at all those 6-10 records! Look at him going through the motions and quitting on his own team!

Sorry if I broke the thread rules, but the Snyder Awards have got to be closer to the Raspberries than the Oscars, don't they?

1. Team MVP - Chris Samuels

2. Mr. Consistency Award - London Fletcher

4. Newbie of The Year Award - Pierre Garcon

5. Unsung Hero Award - Jon Jansen

6. Grinder Award - Kedric Golston

7. Most Exciting Player Award - Robert Griffin III

8. "Pick Me Up" Award - Clinton Portis

9. Coach Award - Joe Gibbs

Neophyte I love the Jon Jansen mention. He was overshadowed by Samuels, but he was rock solid on the right side. I was also impressed by a play he made in a game they were getting crushed by the Bucs in 2003.

Down 15 in the 4th quarter, Ramsey throws a brutal INT to Derrick Brooks who has a clear path to the end zone. Jansen looked like he had a 6th sense on the play and it seemed like he broke at an angle to catch Brooks before the interception happened. He didn’t actually start until the INT happened, but he just was going 100% to catch Brooks as soon as the INT happened. He had no shot to catch Brooks and he took it to the house to turn the game into a blowout. Maybe other guys were hustling on that play, but Jansen specifically gave it all he had in a blowout on a play he had no shot at making. I gained a ton of respect for him on that day.

Wowsers. Who to pick...

1. Team MVP - Tress Way. Probably says something when I'm picking the Punter...

2. Mr. Consistency Award - London Fletcher.

4. Newbie of The Year Award - Desean Jackson? Maybe. He gave us a dimension for the years he was here. A true scary downfield speed threat.

5. Unsung Hero Award - This is a tough one. I've already given Tress my MVP.... Dammit. I'll go with Scary Terry. He's just a fantastic person and role model and the league are only just coming around to him I feel.

6. Grinder Award - Ryan Kerrigan. The Professional's Professional.

7. Most Exciting Player Award - I'm torn. Both had careers kinda cut short for different reasons. Sean Taylor (obviously), but I'll also never forget that 2012 RGIII rookie year. He was electric that year.

8. "Pick Me Up" Award - I mean, there's only one Taylor Heineke right? (I almost put him the category above simply for that playoff game against Tampa!)

9. Coach Award - Joe Gibbs. There can be only one!

Honestly, not sure I'm totally happy with those picks, but those will do for now till my brain kicks in and thinks of something better! LOL
