The Redskins used their final selection of the 2020 NFL Draft to select more DL depth, drafting James Smith-Williams from N.C. State University. Smith-Williams earned kudos at NC State for his leadership, character, and work ethic. A talented student, Smith-Williams had trouble staying on the field due to injuries, including missing half of 2019 with lower body injuries. Smith amazed coaches and trainers by putting on 64 lbs of muscle during his time at NC State. Smith-Williams, when healthy, is a powerful bull rusher, but his injury history likely scared off most NFL teams.
