Sorry to be late to the party but yeah... **** the post. Their stuff isn't anything we can't get anywhere else or make up ourselves

I think it's too late. They've already gained huge momentum and steam, and it's only going to get worse. It's now considered the popular thing to do. And everyone wants to be popular and accepted. Actually I think it's based more on fear. More and more people are afraid of being seen as offensive, so they're just taking the easy way out. And I think that's the tactic - fear. It's hard to imagine anything overturning this momentum and machine based on history, and human nature

I wore a redskins shirt to the 5k this morning. I had 3 people I didn't know tell me what bullshit it is. As many people as you may think are against us I get as many supporting it.

Mike, you're pretty huge. Who in the hell is going to come up to you and say your shirt sucks? Someone with a death wish? Lol

But you make a good point. I'm often in jerseys, and I've never had anyone say a bad word.

They're fine until if/when a big corporate sponsor says goodbye. If that happens, you'll likely see an announcement about taking submissions for a new name two weeks later.

I think you're both wrong. Any 'momentum' is nothing more than perception. All indications are that the vast majority of US citizenry, including the vast majority of Native Americans, think this is just silly PC nonsense. There is zero evidence to the contrary. The fact that certain media outlets continue to cry shrilly about it and carry the PC banner doesn't represent anything real. They have zero power to force a change. Only the NFL itself can do that. And I think you underestimate how committed Dan Snyder is to not give in to this BS. Snyder loves money, and he's got a lot of it, but the same stubborness that has been his achilles heel in the past will drive him to fight this to death's door. I also think he deserves credit in resisting it as passionately as he has to date (albeit somewhat clumsily at times). I think when he says the name will never change, Redskins fans should believe he means it. Part of 'losing' this issue is folks rolling over with 'it's inevitable'. Nothing is inevitable.

Cutting through all the happy horse hockey, the heart of the matter is the big media outlet has betrayed the home town team. While I've never been a fan of the times, I will not be reading the WP any longer. I agree completely that we should no longer promote anything the Post puts out, god or bad.

Unite the Clans.... We should spread the word to other fan sites, prompting them to do the same. If I was a savvy instant media type, I'd be pushing for every self respecting Redskins fan to boycott the WP.

Redskins forever....

**** the post and **** any other place that stops using our name. Boycott those sons of bitches, and Hail To The REDSKINS!!!

It's surprising that there isn't more anger from Skins fans. I am pushing the idea but don't know how many other sites will follow suit. Lots of calls to 'take the high road', but honestly, at this point, to hell with the high road. The Post doesn't deserve to make one dime off the Redskins franchise or fans at this point.

I don't even know what the high road would be. A newspaper is refusing to use our teams name, and trying to get it changed because they do not like it. There is no way fans of the Redskins should have anything to do with a business that does that. What do people expect us to sit back and do nothing?

Im afraid this is a growing trend with the media. With the culture shifting to make it seem like everyone is a victim to everything, this stuff gets by and is treated as if everyone thinks this way. Regardless of poll data or speaking to any native that does not agree with them. Also this is Washington D.C. This is where this idea gets the worse from the politics that seem to plague the area. I hope with a counter culture shift, that we can find a way to not allow this PC crap affect everything. Im just hoping that we can hold onto the pride the name brings until then. Just my opinion.

First of all, welcome to the site, and secondly - amen!

Yep, it's time

Good job, F&&%& the post and any other like them. I've had enough and they and their ilk will get not a penny in any form from me.

I'm also very proud of BGO having zero no votes in this poll. No fence sitting at this awesome REDSKINS site!

Yeah - I noticed that too. I would absolutely respect opposing opinions. Some over on the other site verbalized concern about 'escalating' by taking such a confrontational measure, but honestly, how much more aggressive and over the top can the Washington Post get? I also think that this is where being an independent site makes a difference. They have to worry about how 'the team' will be viewed with everything they do and the staff there may not even have the authority or ability to make that call. We can do what we think is right without those constraints.

It's one of the reasons we very recently turned down an offer to become the official Redskins forum for a very profitable and well-known sports web conglomerate.
