2 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd are about what the Giants paid for Eli Manning. Completely worth it.

Another observation: how come the dang Colts always have the first overall pick when there are two phenoms at the QB position? Hopefully the odds are against them, and they don't make the right choice this time.
 
You are assuming there is a "wrong" choice this time, Lanky. I'm not sure that is the case.

I thought it was impressive because the kid is a rookie who had played in the Spread Offense, but didn't blink or have any problem with a WCO play that Mariucci threw at him. Not only did he not have any problems with it, he nailed it, and really seemed to understand the play and what it was trying to accomplish.

He is well spoken, articulate, engaging, funny, in short, a delight. This is the kind of kid, on and off the field, who we will be proud to have in a Skins uniform for the next 15 years.

Not to mention, respectful.

Said "Sir", at the end of almost every sentence.

Something rarely seen from a college athlete at that age.

Sure it's just one word, but it certainly is a reflection of his character, which is a HUGE issue with athletes these days.
 
one other thing he's a family man already sooo... you wont see this guy getting high or club hopping !
 
I do have one huge concern about RG3. And it's beginning to nag at me. Yet I haven't seen it discussed anywhere:

Weak competition.

He didn't rack up his stats against the highest level of college teams--the SEC. Instead, he racked up his stats against some weak defenses. This might be a huge problem.

The list of heralded QBs who look great in college, but then eventually bust hard from that region is long. Vince Young and Chris Simms come to mind immediately. Many players can look impressive against that Texas and Midwest region, but that doesn't mean they have any business in the NFL. That region literally doesn't even play defense.

Weak competition is what immediately made me believe that drafting Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas guaranteed us the worst draft in franchise history five seconds after the picks were made.

And I can't lie.....it's starting to bother me again.
 
I'm not a big college football guy, but was last year's Heisman season schedule for Baylor really that weak?

Not arguing they played a bunch of powerhouses, but there are some legitimate teams on that schedule. It's not like he's Colt Brennan playing for the Rainbows in the WAC or something. But you do raise an interesting angle I haven't heard discussed.
 
I'll do some further research Boone. I do know defenses in that region are unbelievably soft.

Just looking at the games you posted above....one thing jumps out quickly. Do you notice the scores of their opponents in those?

I'll research further, and post what I come across.
 
Yeah, the high scoring did jump out at me. Again, interesting thoughts...
